Crap cables!!!!

I have a Galaxy S1 and the wife has an ACER E40.
For some reason we only have one USB/charge cable between us :(
So far I have bought 5 MICRO-USB cables and none of the bloody things work :mad:
The phones both indicate they are charging yet the meter never seems to move, in fact you can leave them plugged in all night and the power level % remains the same.
None alow data transfer, I just get USB device not recognised on my PC.

I tried the cable on my daughters HTC, same result.

I would have thought MICRO USB was MICRO USB :confused:

Any ideas?

BTW, original cable works perfect on all phones

If it hadn't of been for you're last statement I would've said it was you're USB Ports on PC not cable

I know, but I tried another PC too (I have quite a few :D ) I even tried my Quad :sofahide:

I get this and I've come to the conclusion that cheap micro usb cables are to be avoided. The cables that come with devices seem to be fine but cheap after market ones tend to be problematic.
