View Full Version : Is this how Gigablue gives support to loyal customers?

Are we responsible? I guess I am responsible for buying a buggy GB Quad, but guess Gigablue and its "official" support forum is responsible for the device! I am a beta tester instead of being helped or praised for my free help you ignore my valid concerns with a product that comes with several features that are missing:

Where is the Gigabit Ethernet?
Where is the Webbrowser?
Where is the Hbbtv support?
Where is the picture quality?

Come on... be more respectful to your customers and treat us like paying and loyal customers like we are... I am considering now to never buy Gigablue again... this was my first!

Should I return product to shop as there is no support what so ever and product features are all lies?

Please open again and be more careful how you call your customers!

So können die Entwickler doch niemals in Ruhe die Bugs lesen wenn ihr alles voll müllt !! Und ich möchte auch keine Beschwerden hören, da seid ihr nun wirklich selber schuld !

I just went through a number of threads on that forum, and I must say: glad I don't have a GB........
OK, that doesn't help you of course. It seems to me that GB fell in the usual trap of a manufacturer trying to maintain a user-forum: the two just don't match.

Very sad state of affair's over on there site now every thing was looking very good on there when they only had the 800 range to look after since the quad has come out it seems to have gone to a bag of pants for end users

OK, but that doesn't make up for the attitude they show on their forum.

I was more on about how they interact with end users on the site rather than the lack of new drivers

I agree with what you guys say. I am happy with the GB quad but I don't like their lack of support.
Do we have now English manuals available?

I asked then when we could expect to have drivers for kernel 3.x and I never had a reply.

It's nice to know that new drivers are coming but it would be much better to know what would be fixed in those drivers :D OTW they can just increase the driver version and say new drivers are available :p
hopefully we get a kind of release note so we can see what enhancements are coming.

Agree... I bought the Quad because I saw some happy customers on 800s... but with the Quad... it just doesn't make sense to post anything... they ignore, don't reply or even keep the most basic list of open bugs and some kind of schedule to fix them.

Some of the features missing the Solo2 with same chipset already has support for them... kernel 3.x, Browser, hbbtv, multimedia, gigabit... I would imagine the Quad with more time on market should already include those, at least it had more time to fix them... unless their support is bad. And it looks like it! I hope they act fast and fix issues with customer communication... I don't care about drivers anymore... unless to sell the receiver at a fair price. I really like the quad better than solo2 because of some features like front lcd and 4x tuners. But if support is that bad I will need to change soon...

Some more abuse... wow poor XabiX... as a matter of fact only reason I still keep my Quad is because of great openVIX image...

Guys, give them some time to fix these issues. VU+ DUO was in the same boat two years ago as its Quad now. "Sea" of bugs but they managed to fix them, it took them a while though. I remember that encrypted subtitles didnt work for some time and i actually didnt use my receiver for a few weeks because of that. I still have .ts files with problematic channels. And even after 2 years some bugs still havent been fixes or addressed and they are not responding to emails either. Sometimes we just need to be patient with new receivers, especially with those that have new chipset. Currently i am not happy with VU+ attitude and i am really not sure if Solo 2 is good investment. I would rather buy new Xtrend but they do not have receiver(s) with next gen chipsets.

This is not about bug-fixes.
This is about how they handle customers.

BTW: Wait for a big (positive) surprise regarding the Solo2

I love the fact that the Solo2 can use Network tuners...

But I only need 1 box and Quad with 4 tuners makes more sense if I ever get some extra DVB-S2 tuners...

erm so can any other E2 receiver with the correct image.

I have been streaming tuners between my uno / ultimo and duo for easily 6 months or longer using the remotestreamconvert plugin.

It is pointless to me saying some other product was just as bad. The point is they are trying to sell satellite receivers with major faults. If they did this with a TV or a car, it would be highlighted on Television by now. Their forum is also waste of time , because they never answer the majority of sensible concerns.

Phoenix, I am thinking of installing a cheap solo E2 receiver just with an ethernet connection in a new bedroom in our cellar, where it is pretty impossible to connect to any satellite connection (too much concrete to penetrate) - apart from installing the box, VIX image and plugin, do I have to do anything else to use with my current ET9200? (I will not be using the new boxes sat tuner at all)

no as long as it has a active network connection with the host box it will be fine, this is exactly how i had it between my uno and ultimo.

The only sensible thing to do for GB is to close their forum (just as Vantage did some time ago, for the very same reason). Their staff is far too embedded in the company to be able to act on a forum.

Generally people don't over promise, in case they can't deliver in time. It fairly common practice. They get out bug fixes at regular intervals, and have to fully test them before release. I'm sure the OpenVIX team do the same thing.
I have been following the work Gigablue have done so far, and they have been working on fixing the issues. That's the reason I have purchased mine, I'll be receiving it today.
Can't wait.

They are doing their own support, which is a lot more than I can say about Vu+. I emailed Alex a couple of times and never got a reply.

Please do so (open a specific thread) as I am interested to do the same. I was even hopping to be able to by a TV that allows apps so maybe there is a way to avoid buying a 2nd demo. which means a client that would do the same as this pluging but available from the TV vendors !

I fully agree that VU+ has been making a mess of it's support for over a year.
But again: this thread is not about support, but about publicly abusing clients on their own forum. And I must say that not replying to an e-mail is at least far more unpretentious.

Would you be able to translate this as google translate isn't doing a great job?

Clear as mud to me

Soooo there will be further posted merrily as if there is a discussion thread and also not standardized language is respected, just as some people think you have to post any tips though clearly in the first post is what is important, I make this thread to now. For example, developers can read but never at rest all the bugs if you müllt full! And I want to hear any complaints because you are really your own fault!

Hehehe, all this companies are on same boat. I had Vu+ Uno and send it to Germany 3 times to repair it, i mailed Vu+ many times and i never ever got a answer.
I buy Duo and same shit box just got stucked on bootloader and i had to find my self more money to buy an Ultimo, and to my bad luck even that box is defected where i cannot record as boxc freezes.

I then buy Mara M9 and Unibox HD3 same shit here to, not much support from the companies.

I will have to agrea that they should treat costumers with respect, but as others say bugs are being fixed.

Well when have there been an forum from this companies that give a tos about us, i have not seen any in my live in sat sceene.

lol, you do not have luck with your boxes! Can't say I've had any problems with any of my boxes that have required it to be sent away *touch wood*... Closest I have come is when the psu on my old dm800 died, and I contact dm, who sent out a replacement psu within a couple of weeks. Box was about 2 years old at the time, so can't fault them on that...

But, back to the topic, if they can't say anything nice, best to say nothing at all...

Indeed: any company should be happy when their clients report issues. They should take them in, without saying much.
And publicly showing anger about that is not done.
