View Full Version : [VU+ Solo] picons wrong ??
Hi, I'm running the latest build of vix 3.0 on my solo and I've downloaded the vix picons from this forum and also thru the image online. What's happened is I get all the picons but they show on the wrong channels, not sure were I've gone wrong but I have tried many times but still the same, any help would be appreciated, cheers
Can you post up a screenshot as picons could be missing or showing wrong for one channel where the frequency has changed but not for every single channel.
i've tried getting a screenshot with open webif and doesn't seem to work, is there another way ?

I have never seen this happen before.. But as you have taken them from the feeds.. This is what i would try..
Long press Blue Button..
then red button..
Highlight picons and then OK..
You will see your picons in there..
Highlight the picon pack.. and press RED or OK to delete..
Now go to one of these 2 links..

Download either of them.. Its just your preference..
Extract the file you just downloaded to desktop..
Rename it to " picon " if its not already called that..
Now open up your favourite FTP programme..
FTP the folder called " picon " either to the flash .. or to root of your usb device..
Then reboot your box.. and your new picons should be showing correctly..
Let us know if this works ok for you...

done that up to where i press red, but the picon is not there to highlight.
When i installed the picons i FTP then straight to media/usb, could that be a problem and should i try putting them on my usb first then inserting into the box and rebooting ?

Do this apply in the same way to DUO?
A second question:
the picons available in feed have not clear descriptions. So I don't understand which should I chose for HotBird 13e.
In the past in many post it was suggested to store picons on USB rather than Flash. But as I've understood the latest OpenVix is able to updates picons too, but only if they are stored on flash. Am I wrong?
Could anybody please clarify this point?

Yes.. This can apply to the Duo as well..
Have a look through here.. for the picons that best suit you..

All of my every day boxes are twin tuners..All have internal HDD.. So i never add a usb stick.. So all picons are stored in flash..
If i was setting up a single tuner box.. Then i may or may not put the picons in flash.. Just depends on the size of usb stick i have at the time..
If you install picons manually via ftp.. then you can always update them as soon as a new release is done in their respective threads..
If you take you picons from the feeds.. You then have to wait until they have been updated in the feeds as well..
This is not always easy.. as the guys who do this have to have a life away from this hobby also..
so i would say.. its best to ftp them into your box.. rather than download from the feeds..

I have done what you said and loaded SGTflipflop picons, as you can see they're still not correct but are mixed up in a different order than the image above, weird !!!
Thanks all for your help, i've eventually found the problem, i was only using a 1GB usb and with have a settings back up and also EPG files on it, it wasn't large enough, deleted settings back up and re installed picons and bingo, all seems ok now. I think i'll go and buy a bigger usb drive, thanks again
