VIX grinding to a halt while playing MKV file

About two minutes into a MKV format movie from USB HDD, my VIX VU Solo is starting to jitter, the VIX logo spins in the corner then the whole thing just grinds to a halt.

Any suggestions?

Now I'm just guessing but could it not be the fact that the USB can't handle the transfer rate.

No; this is dependant on the codecs used inside the MKV container. Many files 'found' on the internet are badly coded, and hence not supported by the drivers. Re-coding (using Handbreak or any other program) wil do the job.

Thanks guys, re-encoding now with Handbrake and will update here with result.

There are also known problems with Gstreamer in this area. What may help, is gstreamer cach clearing:

1. restart enigma2 ...
2. rm -fr /home/root/.gstreamer-0.10/

This will have to be done after every MKV.
