I have a 3 year old 1tb Samsung 3.5" in mine and it works great.

Is it better to go with 2.5 or 3.5 drive?

Looking for 500g to 1tb.

Both are fine.
If looking for a 3.5" HDD make sure it's a dedicated DVR HDD (5400RPM).
Are you sure you're not going for a larger disk?

It's for bedroom so think that would be more then enough.

Depends on what you do in your bedroom :sofahide:

But: why add an HDD to a secondary receiver? I use my main box's internal HDD for the bedroom box. Additional advantage: you have all recordings available and on interrupting playback in the main room, you can continue in the bedroom.
And it's free of charge!

Cause mainly it will be for her in doors to watch record all her
crap whilst I watch the football. Lol

Just thought I've got a 320g in my old V+duo I could
Use for now.

No need for any HDD as you have another box that can be mounted. You can all watch different stuff at the same time.

That is true, but sometimes with nfs shares....on the odd occasion they can lose there network shares....and if his wife is like mine...not technical....she'll not have a clue how to set it back up.

Not everybody is!

Supposing you have a wired connection that will not happen. I use this for years now, and never have any issues.

Mine is also wired and it has lost connection twice in the last 2 weeks. I know it is a quick fix but not everybody could do it without help.

You have to remember not everybody is as technically minded as yourself.
