i need to knew can vu+ solo record filmes in *.mkv format files or in *.ts files only ?

is there any way to make vu solo record to *.mkv format files .

recordings are only made in .TS format, this is not changeable and is the same for every linux based STB.

There are plenty of programs for a PC to convert them to MKV :)
Why do you need mkv format?

Why not just play them back on the Solo?

Handbreak will do what you need.

yes i second that. handbrake is dedinitely one of the beat converters out there. its quicker than most by far and best of all is free :-)

yes i used Handbreak before 00 but sometimes i found error and can not convert *.ts files which recorded by vu+solo00 i don't knew what the problems ?

you dont need to convert anything.

use eac3to to demux the video and audio and use mkvmerge to put those files back into an mkv.
the file size will be smaller aswell.

Using handbreak i converted a 829 MB sized episode of the big bang theory to a 400 MB sized .MKV in about 25 minutes, I also used Vidcoder which uses the same Handbreak engine to convert the original .TS file to .mp4 again the resulting file was 400 MB in size and took around 20 to 25 minutes.
