View Full Version : [GiGaBlue QUAD] Updates taking a while?
Last couple of updates I've had seem to have taken forever to do
A good 15-20 mins
Anyone else?
Marty, have you picons installed from the feeds or done manually?
Manually M8.
Normally it's quite fast, it's only really been the last two updates before then it was OK. :)

Summut not right then
Maybe I'll do a fresh flash if it does it again.
i have an ET9200 and when i try to update via software update in thebox is taking time but via telnet it takes 2-3 minutes
Not noticed any thing here but i did my boxes this morning after i got in from work via a telnet session. not had the chance to flash the latest builds yet and likely wont get the chance till Thursday.
Just done a fresh install of 423, updated to 430 and so far 15 mins have passed and the screen still says wait
The updates come down fairly quick, its the time from when you press update to the time it finishes (when the screen says wait) that takes ages.
I made an image backup just before going from 423 to 430 so I might reload that and try again with telnet and see if thats faster
EDIT normal update took 18mins to finish.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm taking just as long with telnet, but at least I can see whats going on :)
There seems to be ALOT of packages downloading but I still don't understand why its quick for everyone else?
I have an OK-ish internet connection

And the Quad is connected with a 150mbps wifi dongle (router is within 10-15 feet)
As I said before its been OK until these last few updates?

Not sure why Marty..
My set up is almost exactly the same as yours..
Only difference is my Quad is connected with a VU+ wifi dongle.. which i think is 300mbps..
My internet connect is roughly 40 down.. and 2 up..
I couldn't get my 300mbps to work with the Quad (was OK on the Duo) I don't think the drivers work on the Quads kernel.
The thing is it WAS OK before  I might try another connection (I have a 56mbps wifi bridge) just to rule out the 150mbps being dodgy.

Mine isn't a VU+ dongle (TPLINK)
Can anyone confirm I'm using the right command?
init 4 && opkg update && opkg upgrade && init 6

Yeah, because today's updates were small. Wait until your picons are updated at the same time!
Done another update this morning, went really fast like before:D
same problem with my quad.
the download and upgrade is fast, the quad reboot and stay many many many many minutes on "loading please wait" and after works...
why?
thanks!

could be any number of reasons, the box may have been performing a disk check if you have a HDD inserted etc. without a bootlog there is really no way for us to know exactly what was going on with the box at the time.

ok, where I find the log to post here? ;)
thanks
Home> root> logs. Or just use the logs manager built directly into the image it self and send them directly from the receiver.
EDIT. After reading your post again if your referring to a bootlog, those can only be created by using RS232 serial connection and PUTTY during the boot up process, they are not saved on the box, the logs generated by this method are saved on your pc.

Not had this problem since until this morning :(
So far I've been waiting a good 30+mins
TV just displays the 'Please wait until your Gigablue HD Quad reboots' screen

Do you have picons from the feeds installed? They tend to cause this problem.
