Hi to all developers,
after a long time and many tests I finally discovered that, at present, using a867 DVB-T tuner causes major issues on DUO.
here is the symptom:
receiver freshly flashed (it doesn't matter to which build)
than installed DVBT drivers manually by telnet (they are not available on the plugin gui of the feed) in this way:

opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-a867
opkg files kernel-module-dvb-usb-a867
opkg depends kernel-module-dvb-usb-a867

after reboot the tuner shows as C and works correctly (but everytime enigma restarts stop working and a full reboot is needed)

anyway, after one ore two days since the installation the problem starts:
issue 1:
the receiver shows the availability of an online update (green or red icon) but It cannot updates and returns these messages:
On VIX 2.4 (any build)

"nothing to update"

On VIX 3.0 (any build)

A background update check is in progress, please wait a few minutes and try again."

If I try to force the upgrade and update and update via telnet may happens two different things:
issue 2:

opkg update && opkg upgrade
Downloading http://enigma2.world-of-satellite.co...ll/Packages.gz.
Downloading http://enigma2.world-of-satellite.co...el/Packages.gz.
Downloading http://enigma2.world-of-satellite.co...ty/Packages.gz.
Downloading http://enigma2.world-of-satellite.co...uo/Packages.gz.
Collected errors:
* opkg_download: Failed to download http://enigma2.world-of-satellite.co...ll/Packages.gz, wget returned 255.
* opkg_download: Failed to download http://enigma2.world-of-satellite.co...el/Packages.gz, wget returned 255.
* opkg_download: Failed to download http://enigma2.world-of-satellite.co...ty/Packages.gz, wget returned 255.
* opkg_download: Failed to download http://enigma2.world-of-satellite.co...uo/Packages.gz, wget returned 255.
and the problems affects the plugin download aswell, infact the verbose dialog box onscreen reports the wget 255 error too.

It's not a network problem at all since CCcam continues to work both over LAN and WAN. And even because plugin feed can be checked. All the ping made via telenet were ok.

here come the latest issue:
issue 3:
sometimes neither telnet nor FTP connection can be established.
For telnet here's the error:

Welcome to OpenViX for vuduo

openvix 3.0 vuduo

vuduo login: root
Password:
Login incorrect

vuduo login:

*************** SESSION CLOSED **************

and for FTP I get:

530 error - incorrect login.
therefore I'm unable to grab any log file.

Very few times it happened that I could regain both FTP and telnet access by switching off and back on.
But most of the time this won't happen.

As said the issues was happening in the very same way on two DUOs with a867.
So I flashed both to 3.0.394 and after about ten days they have beenable to do online updates to all the next released build.

At this point If developers want me to do any test to improve a867 drivers for the VIX image I'm here.
Cheers

I Get The Same Problem With Checking For Updates(VIX 3.0) And With The dib7700 Driver For The PlayTV (PS3) Dual DVB-T Tuner... I've Put An Auto Deep Stand-By In Place To Test And Will Report If That Solves The Driver Problem... Basically After A Certain Amount Of Time The Duo Can't Tune To The DVB-T Tuners... After A Reboot, They Work Fine... I Know There's No Problem With The PlayTV, Because I've Tested It Using Windows Media Centre And The Windows (Forced) Drivers Over A Long Period Of Time... Just Hope The Deep Standby Works... Otherwise I'll Try An Auto Reboot (If That's Possible)...

logs can be saved to USB & would be helpful in these situations, without them, we can only guess what the problem might be.

Some more feedback:
today checked the dvb drivers via telent and noticed that dvb-usb-a867 kernel module for AVerMedia A867 has been updated to
kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9005 - 3.1.1-r2.7 - linux-vuplus version 3.1.1-r2.7.

So I installed via telnet.
The first good thing that I can say: DVB-T tuner remains available on Enigma2 restart!
Now lemme test it for more days and let's check if any of the previously described issues occur. Let's cross fingers

Forgot to say that I'm at present on Vix 3.0 build 589

yes, my self and Skaman (sifteam) debugged and improved USB tuner detection code.

So andy why don't you make the driver available in the plugins feed yet?

So andy why don't you make the driver available in the plugins feed yet?

??, it is not a driver but e2 core updates. doing a online update will update any driver. no need to do in telnet.

ANDy, I've not clearly understood.
You mean that the receiver is now able to automatically detect the A867?

no, but once you install the drivers, fi there are any update to them they will be automatically updated.

Well I was aware of this.
What i actually was saing is that A867 drivers are not yet available on the plugin feeds.
I had to install them as per the telnet commands report ed above.
For my testings the driver seems to perform well and I was suggesting that its time to place it in the fui feed

my bad, i will add them to feeds. (y)

EDIT: it appears they are already in feeds, the driver you need for this tuner is AF9035 as this is the chipset. can you test and confirm ?

Andy, before going through what you ask me to test, please note this:
I've installed manually via telnet the driver you can see below (in bold)

opkg list 'kernel-module-dvb-usb*'
kernel-module-dvb-usb-a800 - 3.1.1-r2.7 - linux-vuplus version 3.1.1-r2.7
dvb-usb-a800 kernel module; AVerMedia AverTV DVB-T USB 2.0 (A800)
kernel-module-dvb-usb-a867 - 3.1.1-r2.7 - linux-vuplus version 3.1.1-r2.7
dvb-usb-a867 kernel module; AVerMedia A867

dvb-usb-af9005 kernel module; Driver for Afatech 9005 DVB-T USB1.1 stick
kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9005-remote - 3.1.1-r2.7 - linux-vuplus version 3.1.1-r2.7

kernel-module-dvb-usb-au6610 - 3.1.1-r2.7 - linux-vuplus version 3.1.1-r2.7

It seems not to be the AF9035. As you know the AF9035 driver never worked in the past with the A867, becouse of some slight differences between the tuners.

And more over as you can see from the screen the AF9035 driver is still listed in the gui among the available drivers to install. Is it correct if I say that if I actually installed the AF9035 It shouldn't show anymore there?

ok, maybe there are different version of this tuner, just reading stuff on web people say the AF9035 should work. i'll make A867 plugin to install.

Hi whiplash
on which receiver are you using the A867?
Since the a867 drivers have been released in the feed it's working ok for me.
Have tested two Sky A867 blue light on three different DUOs and it's working.

First of all remove all unwanted and not necessary modules. Just have the a867 installed.
If after rebootin (not restarting enigma) it won't be avilable you may want to reflash and start from a clean installation.
