Hi,

I am thinking of buying this receiver to replace a Dreambox DM800 and Humax HDR-FOX T2.

I was wondering if the Hybrid DVB-C2/T tuner supported freeview HD?

Also if you had 2 Hybrid DVB-C2/T tuners would you need to connect an ariel feed to each or can they share the one feed internally?

Thanks.

Keep in mind the Humax has T2 for Freeview HD, the Quad has DVB-T, so only standard Freeview, no HD through terrestrial tuner.

Hi there,

Just to confirm that my GB Quad does pick up HD channels on its 3rd Terrestial tuner.
In my country we have the Italian version of DVB Terrestial system. Not sure if this is the same as UK's DVB-T though...

cheers

can anyone comment on using 3 or maybe 4 recording HD going at once. So maybe PIP with HD channels and a third recording? how has the box managed with that?

obviously the real test will be when you can have various encrypted channels too

I am in Suffolk - UK and the transmitter for my terrestrial signal should be Tacolneston, but that did not come up as a selectable option? Do I have to manually enter the transmitter in anywhere?

You just set the tuner to Europe DVB-T Frequencies.

Yes you will but USB tuners are not yet supported by GB, they will be but not just yet.

On the plus side 4X DVB S tuners and T2 as well, I bought one of the PCTV T2 and just waiting for tuner support to arrive.

No, UK Freeview HD is DVB-T2.

the problem is not the support dvb-t USB, but support of two DVB-T
with a few steps, my QUAD works with a usb nova T

instead with the PCTV DVB-T2 is a speech by the kernel, it takes a kernle 3.x to compile the drivers :(

Extract this archive and FTP the terrestrial.xml file to /etc/enigma2/ on your receiver then reboot.

Thanks for your reply. However, I'm in France and would need the terrestrial.xml for Europe.

in that case just use the one already in the image by default, you should get the option to select your region in the tuner setup page.

Hi,
Unfortunately I don't have the image default files. But I would like to have the possibility to choose the region. Or have the default terrestrial.xml for europe to replace the souped up one now in my etc directory.

Executing a scan should do the trick.

The quickest way would be to create a full image backup of your current system, then flash a new image and copy the default file from that. you can then just flash your backup back to the receiver and copy the default file over to overwrite the one you currently have.

or backup the image as before then delete the terrestrial.xml file and do a reboot, when the box comes back on line perform a opkg update && opkg upgrade via telnet, this should then retrieve the file from the image servers.

OK, bumping old thread a year after original reply on the topic. My question goes back to one of the original questions:

It is October 2013, quite some time after the product launch. Can Gigablue Quad receive freeview HD channels via original terrestrial addon tuners that are available from this shop?
And if not, are there any other stable, tested, end consumer ready options to receive freeview HD with this receiver?

If your in the UK than the PNP tuner cannot as its not a T2 tuner.

Elsehwere you might be able to as they do get HD channels on those tuners

USB T2 tuners were hit and miss before and not sure if they have improved as not used for a while

Awww... that's terrible news. How can receiver so advanced not support T2 in this day and age. I really hoped it would support Freeview HD, 2 x DVB-T2 and 2 x DVB-S2 would be just perfect, no need to drill through walls and thread new satellite cable, aerial splitter and done.

I don't suppose there are any other receivers on the market with two DVB-T2 and single DVB-S2 tuners?
