Can some 1 advise how to do this pls as obviously the picons im using work well with the lcd on all sats, is it a path i need to change in the image or?
I thanks you for providing me the info of this post ---> http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?22266-LCD-Picons-for-Gigablue-Quad but as said its not the picons i need just how to use the 1s i already have.
Thanks in advance for replies
install openmips
go to /usr/share/enigma2 and copy the skin_display96.xml to your pc.
rename the skin_display96.xml to skin_display220_no_picon.xml
install vix
copy skin_display220_no_picon.xml to /etc/enigma2
then restart enigma2.
you can avoid the first part if someone can give you the skin_display96.xml from the openmips image.

Thanks mate, i wonder if anybody is actually using this image now vix is out, without sounding lazy i dont really want to reflash unless i have to.
well unless someone can provide the openmips xml to you, you'll have to reflash to get it :(

Here you go ;) Personally I prefer Rossi's xml

I've done it for you :p However with VIX you can do a fully image backup so you "could" have installed openmips grabbed the file and had VIX back to exacty how you had it all in 5 mins :)
I have tried the above file from the link and now I don't have ANY info on the LCD whatsoever. Should I rename folder lcd_picons to lcd?

You will need to use different picon as those will be too big.
I recomend these

Might be worth trying copying to /usr/share/enigma2 if /etc/enigma2 doesn't work :)
Hm, when I changed the Picons for the quad from here: http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?22266-LCD-Picons-for-Gigablue-Quad
I lost all LCD display :-(
Hm, I have no idea what I have to do to get Picons on LCD (I have them on TV from the extensions downloads). Marty you gave me a link, there are many PNG's inside. But where do I put this PNG's?
The screen is now blank that I put skin_display220_no_picon.xml in the etc/enigma2 :-(

They go into the "picon" folder ;)
It sounds like you are totally confused :D
Do this EXACTLY
1. Download the file "skin_display96.xml" I posted here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?22674-Picons&p=169110&viewfull=1#post169110
2. Rename the skin_display96.xml to skin_display220_no_picon.xml
3. Copy the file to /usr/share/enigma2
4. Create a folder called "picon" (without the "") on your HDD (or USB key OR in /usr/share/enigma2)
5. Copy all the PNG's to that folder. (download from here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?18869-BLACK-28-2E-by-MMCMedia&p=165316&viewfull=1#post165316)
6. Reboot and it should then work (proper reboot, not restart enigma2)
I just re-tested this and can confirm it works 100% using VIX
Thank you for taking the time for this precise instructions, I'll try! You are right, I am totaly confused, I did everything and I have Picons map already as I DL the picons from extensions. Seems your Picons are not the same and that is the reason that I have blank LCD now ;-)
It works. Not only I get picons of 28.8 East only (that are in the download), I get every one in the LCD (don't understand why but ok ;-)) But I lost some info from the LCD I had before about the actual show.
Hello,
Thanks for the instructions.
Why do we have to get a separate set of picons for the LCD than for the TV?
I was expecting to be able to have a "soft" that would resize TV icons (installed through the plugin screen enigma2-plugin-picons-tv-ocram.hd.transparent) to the right size to fit within the GB QUAD LCD screen.
Merci
XabiX
EDIT
It didn't work for me. How the system knows were you have put your picons on the HDD or in the USB? do you have to edit a file to point to the right path? or configure within the TV menu?

Marty, on your point 3. How will the script find the picons? if you decide to install in on a specific device?

Have you enabled them under the LCD options in settings?
I don't think you need a specific set of LCD picons anymore.
I just download them from Plugins on the box then enable in settings.
Beaten to it.
did you configure the LCD4 ? Go into LCD4 with webif an go to Modus ON . Then set the right directory path under picon pad.
Example : http://ipaddressbox/lcd4linux/config?Element=LCD4linux.Picon
lcd4linux isnt natively installed to the quad. the best bet atm is to try the front panel display settings
