For the time being....

It must be said that it is not guaranteed if any plugins/skins are installed they may get your image unusable and ends up you need to reflash.....

it is not the installation it is what after (plugins, skins, image update....etc.)

it has been reported by another user that it crashed his box and needed to reflash

That was me. And although you are absolutely right that there can be post-installation issues, my problem was (stupidly) going into VTI Image Tools and clicking on Restore an Image. Which it promptly proceeded to do...

Otherwise, however, the VTI Image Backup worked for me once I copied the mkfe.jffs2 file to usr/bin...

any plugin's that are not in OUR feed may cause your STB to get green screen of death and slow down.

the VTI plugin WILL try to do things that i have stuff embedded into my image ie Softcam Manager using 2 will cause problems, I WILL NOT take ANY support questions if you use ANY plugin that is NOT in OUR FEED.

USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK

just wait for VIX 1.1 :) i have coded an Image Manager that allows you to Backup/Restore and Manage your Images
