Hello
The picture size has changed without me touching anything. Its narrower now, the picture is in the middle of the screen and has become smaller.
I tried to change settings in the menu to change the 16:9 or 4:3 shape, nothing happens. Somebody please help. The strange thing is that it happened automatically or maybe a child has pressed a button on the remote control.

Is it the TV-picture you're talking about? If so, see what aspect ratio your TV is set to (maybe it's now on 3:4?).
If it's only the OSD (the menu's) you can change them in OSD-settings.

thank u for your reply. The regular tv-channels have normal picture, its only the satellite receiver which has a narrpwer picture.
Whats OSD?
The A/V settings are both on "Just Scale"

The OSD refers to the On Screen Display, basically the menu's of the receiver / image.

On screen display.

Is the picture truncated on all channels or just some and certain programes.

Can u write the steps to how to change this setting?
I tried:setup-system-A/V settings. and there I can see OSD visibility which is full, the display 16:9 and 4:3 are both on "Just scale", do I have to change them?

menu-setup-system-user interface- osd position setup try default first see if that fixes it

All satellite channels, the regular tv-channels are ok.

Exactly: that's why I suggested to look at the aspect-ratio the TV is set to (for this particular input).

Thats not a OSD problem but as rob suggested you need to adjust the aspect ratio for that particular output on the TV it self.

and he was right, I changed the asoect ratio on the tv and the picture changed..
Its strange because only the satellite channels were changed ,not the regular tv-channels.

That's because aspect ratio settings on a TV are per input, not global.

Quick problem a little similar to above...currently watching a film on channel 5HD...but it's showing movie in 4:3...adverts are still 16:9.....why???...strange I thought...so changed to channel 5sd and same film is no longer 4:3....it is 16:9

Why 4:3channel 5 hd and 16:9on sd

yes thats because the original program is hard coded like this. its exactly the same with early episodes of the Simpsons when viewing it on sky1 HD.

So why do they scale the sd one to 16:9?
Is it to just fill the screen?

Hi,

So why do they scale the sd one to 16:9?
it must not be the broadcaster it could also be the box. Does the icon 16:9 appear on the SD channel? With SD the STB can zoom with "pan&scan" or "just scale" with HD the STB canīt.

ciao

I do have my vu duo box set to just scale...but as I said earlier it was exactly the same on my official sly HD box. Which is set with default settings.

On HD-channels no scaling is available/works: they are all 16:9 , simple as that.
