excellent, thanks for that info, i didnt know if there are suitable for the display on the UE.

for sure there'll be more coming, its just a quite lengthy task to do. i'll prob be doing them a bouquet at a time like i did with the ultimo picons.

I've tried this on my Quad (OPENMIPS) and just can't get it to work

You say "overwrite the xml in /usr/share/enigma2"
There is no "skin_display220_no_picon.xml" file to overwrite. I pasted the files there anyway but it doesn't do anything.

The only file I have which is simular is "skin_display96.xml"
Should I rename the file?

You also quote "only tested on VIX 3.0" I didn't think this was available yet?

rossi2000

openmips must be different then
yes im using vix 3.0, try renaming mine to yours.

ive updated the lcd screen to show the picon now and a row of icons above it.
there seemed to be alot of wasted space on the screen as alot of picons are narrow rectangles.

along the top row you get the update icon, record icon, hd + dolby icons too.

drop into /etc/enigma2 so it doenst get overwritten by online update

I have VIX 3.0 and I put everything in this file to the usr/share/enigma2 and I lost everything on LCD now :-( Should I rename lcd_picons to something else or copy it in the same folder or something else. I can not get them to work on LCD.

there is no need for a LCD picon pack for the Quad, it will use the standard picons from infobar just fine. the only thing you need to change is the skin file to add a picon

<widget source="session.CurrentService" render="Picon" position="0,0" size="110,40" >
<convert type="ServiceName">Reference</convert>
</widget>

the picons are way to small unless you sit 10cm from your box.. the whole display is filled with small stuff that is hardly visible from a distance.

bigger icons are needed if you want too see them from the usual sitting distance of 3-4mtrs away.

Personally, cant see the need for picons, my Ultimo is on default and the info I need is there. How often do you actually look at the VFD, i would hazard a guess less than half a dozen ime if even that.

Picons on the LCD look cool :p

Thing is picons and displays are a very personal thing, what looks rite to one does not necessarily look rite to another. Just look at all the complaints that we had saying our LCD was not like openmips. Thats why it's nice to have a choice.

Will that be pushed into the VIX image or do we need to all do this?

OK, found the correct place to put the Picons and the display is nice, but on the channels that have not been developed the LCD is now blank. Is there a way of retaining the original LCD display as well as the new Picons?

marty

Did you also upload the lcd_picon folder?

EDIT: I guess you figured it out :)

Hi Marty
I appreciate it's a time consuming job and sometimes people don't realise how much effort it takes. I was just enquiring if the two picon files could exist together? As I have overwritten the original file, have you a copy of it?

Hi raju05, im in the same position and with the same setup as you, did you get yours working ??

you have been advised multiple times you no longer need LCD specific picons as the ViX image will scale up the regular picons it self for use on the LCD.

Hi Gravedigger, was wondering did you get these picons working on Vix 3.0 with quad, i have followed instructions but no sucess.

Please read carefully. you DO NOT need lcd picons for the ViX image as we have a built in scaler that uses the default picons and upscales them for the LDC.

Just FTP your normal picons to root or usb stick.. ( Not HDD )

Then ..

Menu > Set Up > System > Display > Skin Set Up

Select default with Picon

Restart Gui..

Picons now diplay on Quad / 800 UE display..

What picons are you using & where did you store them?
I'd just place them on the root of flash, in a folder called picon & restart E2.

Hi Rossi2000, im sorry that you think that your posts are invisible, i came onto the forum to try and get some help, and give help IF i can, i understand what yourself and Phoenix have said that i dont need lcd picons for the ViX image and i dont need to be advised multiple times, maybe someone could understand that the color LCD does NOT Display in color for me, so what is the final conclusion ? does the color display that you showed in the first post no longer work on GB Quad with vix 3.0 or is no-one willing to try and explain how to get it to work to an ordinary layman.

I had similar problems displaying picons on the lcd on a quad. I downloaded AAF_LCDSkin 1 to 6 from the feeds and then went to setup/system/display/skin setup and choose the one that suited best (5 for me). Restart enigma may be required for picons to display

We may not need them but I think they looked a lot better than the current options available via the feeds

I think it's been explained many times now...
& yes, they do work without any extra steps. Just have the correct picons for the sats you want to use & add them to the root of flash or USB.
Then Menu -> Setup -> System -> Display -> Skin Setup -> Default with picons.

Hi,

Do these work with Cable as well as Sat? I'm new to this :)

Cheers.

Silent
16-04-15, 15:43
They do - but the Picons either need to have the Cable service references or be Service Name based (SNP).

You can get the SNP ones from here: http://openvix.co.uk/

Cheers for the info, i'd seen SNP but would have never worked out what it stood for.
