/etc/enigma2/

if I manually edit a .tv bouqet file with a rtmp feed or a channel service.

I know you can restart enigma2 and it will get updated.

But I was thinking is there a command to update it? via telnet/putty?

I am sure there is a command you can use to just refresh the channel list without restarting the whole e2

Anyone please?

Ideally when making such changes you need to first kill or put enigma to sleep using telnet or putty and the init 4 command. Once the changes have been made restart enigma using the init 3 command.

Enigma has the actual bouquet in memory, so when that one is changed externally that change will be overwritten by Enigma again.

I use Dreamboxedit to update my bouquets. After sending new settings to my receiver, Dreambox edit issues a command to reload the settings.

When this has been done I then use the receiver's remote control to reselect the bouquet.

Yes, I know DBE does that. That command is a real disadvantage of DBE; one has always the risk I talked about. It's never a good idea to try to change things that are in memory.

In Dreamset you can make setting to stop E2 before uploading and to start when done.

yes rob is correct. it's best to either kill enigma first via a telnet session and the init 4 command then use DBE to send the bouquets then once done use the init 3 command to reboot enigma. or use a different program such as dreamset which has this function built in. DBE while a graphically pleasing program is severely limited in this respect when it comes to the proper handling of Bouquet transfers.
