Upgrading to newer image

I have in my possesion another Vu duo, which has an older (2010) DH image installed.
Question:
If I want to install any newer/current image, such as VIX or BH, is there anything I should do first, prior to installing this newer image?

yes,...update the boot loader first

When flashed with this bootloader, it doesn't matter which image I use?

no, the bootloader is fully backwards compatible with all new / old images alike.
