New to me this, i just copied my VU+ Duo reciever's ip adress into my internet browser pressed return and hey presto, theres a complete reciever overview and control page on the computer! Everything that I do with the remote can also be done from here.
Is this somthing new or have I just been unlucky and missed out? Whatever, it's a very useful thing to have found. If anyone else has'nt tried , give it a go - I'd like to know what you think.

Hi,
I think you were unlucky because this is inside E2 almost since I can think:-)

But this is not control over internet it is only control over LAN (local area network) when you want to do it over the internet you need a decend router and configure port forwarding.

yes thats called the Web Interface or as it's now called OpenWebIF. as you pointed out it allows you to control certain aspects of the receiver and stream content over a web ( lan ) connection, you can use it from a outside network but you would have to setup port forwarding etc via the router.

Thanks guys, now I get it. I do indeed have the VU+ Duo on the same modem as my portable pc and the internet has a LAN setup and the net page is named OpenWebIF, as you say.
One final question, whats the E2?

E2 = Enigma 2 the operating system that the unit uses

Ok I' ll give this a go ....once in a job as fork lift loader driver in a large warehouse - gettting up an order for a few pallets of 1 x 12m roof felt - asked a grumpy git where this product was - got the finger as a reply & he drives off without bothering to answer. Not understanding why, I turn the fork lift around and notice Im by the side of 300 stacked pallets of said roof felt.....felt like a complete dum bar steward:eek:

Are you using the correct internal IP to start with?
Audio channels can be stored by pressing the audio button on the remote when on the channel in question.

Did you install any plugins that might interfere with ports?
Are you trying to connect to WebIF from a 192.168.0.x network?

Menu -> Information -> Network will give you the correct IP, if you are on the same network & OpenWebIF isn't working on that address, it suggests something is wrong with the box/plug-ins/network.
Maybe try a reflash as this is a basic function of the box.

No harm in sticking in a stable build that works for you, but to troubleshoot any problems you find on that build, it helps to be on the latest stable update as that's where we do our testing.

And more important: all bugfixes and enhancements are per definition in the latest build, not in previous ones........
