The embedded subs always seem to come on by default, is there any way to disable them by default?

I don't think there was... But, if it ever did happen, you would need to move to 3.0 for the update to come through ;)

Anyway, it was added to the list of jobs to look at previously, and has been mentioned before here:

Unfortunately 3.0 kills mkv playback on my et9000 and et9200 :(

Not sure how, as I play back lots of mkv files, and never have any problems with them at all...

The sound drops out on mkv's randomly. In 2.4 the same mkvs play fine.
