just reflashed box and cant ftp, whats the default for it?

There is no password set by default. The reason you can't use FTP is because you used a settings backup from a older image and have broken the FTP protocol among other things in the core of the image.

The solution has been discussed many many times. A full refresh without restoring settings is what you need to do.

Have refreshed and reset everything from scratch as required - successfully.
