Hi guys,

With all respect to al these people who do efforts to make nice images: why divide and not unite?
I, as the user, now has to choose, but to me it is unclear why I would do all the effort of re-installing another image (and probably re-configuring all the lost settings)

So tell me: what is the improvement above PLI?

And forgive my directness, but your boot pictures are eh.. not my taste. It would be nice if you give the user the possibility to upload his own JPG which will be automatically converted by your built-in converter. :) (or over the email)

first comment on the bootlogo but u can's satisfy all tastes by any means. easily enough if u had a look in the forums u can find some other bootlogos or even the way to make ur own. it doesn't take much, try it. ;)

@ Hansham, perhaps you could build an image to suit all tastes?

lol, good one. that would be a good image. i can see what he says about the logo, i prefer crisp logos that take full advantage of the 50 inch screen in hd utilising shades of colour, some of the army logos are nice. however once the boot screen is gone the rest of this image is very good looking.

there are not many true coders that make images. most people just decompile official and repackage images, a few people create new things that improve images. thats the reason why there are so many different images. i like to have the choice but i agree that if 2-3 of the top coders got together and worked on individual parts we could see a great image. i wish someone from VLC would take on the media player and make it good!

Thanks for the new image and all your hard work although i havent tried it yet, first let me say although i am new to linux boxes i have been into the satellite scene since analogue days and to me it isn't a pretty boot logo or skins that are important it is how the thing works that matters to me. I have in the past tried lots of different images but only been happy with the Gigant image and the vu+ support image from here for me they work well, i just find it disapointing when people criticize purely on aesthetics after all beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I can fully appreciate the time and effort that has gone into making this image and working in the graphic design industry I can also understand how thankless it can be when people just wander along and bash a piece or work just because it's not to their taste. What's worse is when it's useless criticism with no constructive feedback. If the skin is available by itself I'll give it a whirl, but I'm pretty happy with OpenPLi right now so I'll be sticking with that. Not enough hours in the day lately to be faffing with images and setups ;)

And as said earlier, it's pretty easy to make your own bootlogo if you're not happy with the default one. That's what I done and it's to my own liking so I'm happy with it. Made it available to others in the odd chance someone else may like it.

Just one question about VIX, can it connect to a server ala OpenPLi to download updates, plugins, extensions, etc.?

not had a chance to try this out yet, but i will ,bootloader????? wtf do i care about a bootloader, its the image that bothers me, i once created an image for a dbox(in the days when we were all having a shot at i it was like a little school where all the smart kids helped you to do your own,you mind of that sic lol ) and the bootloader was donald duck ,if the image is all singing all dancing and has no faults then no matter what you have a go ,and im sure you used to be able to make your own bootloader first try it if you dont like it then revert back to what your used to

Is the boot logo that important to some people ,do you sit there rebooting just to see it, i remember when they first got a black screen on channel change the boot logo was blanked out on bootup ,it was changed back the same day.
