Team VIX Enhancements


VIX Bootlogos and Radio Logo.
VIX Team Vu_HD+ Skin.
VIX Team softcam manager.
Cron jobs fully supported - Please restart the box to get the cron daemon running!
AutoTimer plugin integrated into image - Create an AutoTimer (Series Link), using Blue button in Current Channel EPG info.
Cool TV Guide included in image, and modified to better embed with the image.
CCcam Info re-written for Image.
CCcam Info on Second Info Bar (Written specifically for the image to improve load times).
Swap Manager to create/use swap files on usb/hdd.
Modified Rytec EPG importer to work with OE 1.6*.
Image patched to allow EPG data to be loaded without the need for a restart**.
Recorded Items list modified to move item, browse directories. Works similarly to suomipoeka plugin. Can be selected to load via the recorded items button, or from the tv button.
Permanent Timeshift Plugin integrated (Disabled by default, turn on via Timeshift settings).
Integrated AutoTimer
Integrated VirtualZap
Integrated EPG Search
Integrated IMDb Search


* Pre-compiled epg.dat files can also be loaded with this plugin, but the rytec epg.dats can cause problems. So far in testing, satmate epg's seem fine.
**Uses version2 of the crossepg patch, and is compatible with crossepg.

Long Red - Show current channel EPG info.
Short Green - Timers.
Long Green - AutoTimer Timers.

Known Bugs


Motor moving image does not display - Problem with main driver, reported to VU+.
Front VFD display showing the play button at the end of a video unless it is stopped manually - Problem with main driver, reported to VU+.
ECM time on second info bar in skin is not currently shown - New version of CCcam needed for OE1.6. (libgcc_s.so fix is unstable).
Installing other skins will cause the box to get into an infinite loop. Only use supported skins on this image (currently Vu_HD_Plus is the only supported skin)

who's ever responsable for "cool epg" it certainly is that it's the best there's ever been i like the idea of it being right across the screen, added to that the whole image has a great feel about it.

ok gotta i've say it a "moan" the text on the setup menu on my display is disappearing from the left of the screen, i've had to pop next door and ask them what it say's :D

apart from that it's a great attempt, have i said it? i think it's fabulous.

i would not use that, it will turn off Harware FPU and enable software, and will slow down your Vu+

Thanks Andy I found the help button in the epg just after posting lol. Also it lets you choose to start at bouquets so thats me sorted all where iI want it now. Going to have a play with the media player now.

i've tried the screen shots mate, but they dont appear in them as they do on screen, so there's no point in that exercise.

it's mainly on the sub menus in the satellite setup, also the text on CCcam info is so small i cant even see it standing nose to screen :D

i don't know who to addres this one to so i'll start with you, on Media Player i don't know what it's called but the track timer more or less top left of screen, it's blocking the track info, and anyway we have the track times at the bottom of the screen so can we remove the top one.

As you most can most likely appreciate, we can't test on every size of TV. Your looks like a 50", so we'd be interested to see how it appears on your TV.

I'm using a Panasonic pwd8 and a Yamaha 736 amp composite into the amp component to the plasma, resolution from the duo is probably 480i , i should get the new tv soon so i wil be back to using hdmi, i selected dvi in the setup because thats what i'll be using.

whats wrong with that ?, looks fine to me ?, if you crease the font size of the menu's they wont fit all the text in., beside the font size the same as the original Vu skin

it is in Plugin and press Green. so Long Blue, then green :)


and yes you need to have a full setup so of the options require displaying channel.

@ Canthackit. Check your TV settings for overscan sections or picture horizontal picture size / width. Had a similar issue with on fashioned hitachi yesterday, but managed to adjust the TV for all to fit.

@ Oldskulride, we need to look at SD skins in future.

i am having problems guys.

softcam set up.

i have downloaded cccam 214 and when i click on it to start it it says starting then when i click again it still says active cam: none. 1 cam installed.

if i go to the 192 page :16001 i get nothin.

any help?

Check /media/hdd and you should have the 2 crash logs from when you had them. Can you please upload them here?!

BUT!

Coming from the PLi-image and the correct linebreaks on subbed channels (nearly all here in Sweden) and find that they aren´t correct on this image is almost a dealbreaker for me and the missus ;)

Do you know how to implement the correct linebreaks or is that a secret for the PLi people only to know about?

Can´t get my Siriuschannels to appear also. Selected the correct satellite but nothing happens regarding to signalstrenght. Thorchannels work without a problem.

Overall, good job. Maybe the errors I have are userbased? :D

levi, just click on ""Go Advanced" button below the reply box and then click on attachments and upload the screenshots u have.

It`s looking and performing very good, but for me the same issue to stay with Pli as @Berggren, the sublines.

I have problems with EPG IMPORT, tried it twice always the same result, after third providers, the Vu+ slows down drastically , it shows busy icon all the time, and just load load , without success, sometimes you can see on the screen how it loads events one by one, and just stops. Anyway after all is done. some providers have epg, but most of them not.

Which providers are you trying to download from, and what is the internet address of the source you're downloading?!

Any chance of providing RS-232 control in parallel to IR remote control codes in the image? Preferable with an increased set of commands in RS-232 control.

The absence of RS-232 control is the only major flaw I found so far with the VU+.

Reboot your receiver, check internet connectivity and maybe try again later. Could be an issue connecting to Rytec's server.

connectivity is not a problem, problem is it;s looks like EPG import uses all the vu+ resources , because hourglass icon is on the screen all the time, receiver is just stuck.

A reboot sorted out my CCCAM not starting problem, thanks. i will post the few small things that i have found, not as a complaint but purly as a point of interest.

A few issues that i have found.
I posted a crash log and it looks like i have over filled it with plugins, yet i dont have any plugins. i installed the image in flash and dont bother with any extra plugins. i have a vu duo with 1TB hard drive

The EPG import didnt work for me on the UK satmate but did work on Rytec UK, however downloading the 42000 entries took a lot longer than it does on my last image, open PLI. love the way in which you can pull the timers up on the side bar with the option of disabling etc.

My wish list would be for a major improvment to the media player in order to accept different downloaded programs MKVs etc withour getting stuttering and motion Blur.

There is a link on the first post that takes you to the downloads.

There is both nfi and USB version that you can download....

If you download the ZIP file, there are 3 files in the zip file...Place all 3 files inside /vuplus/duo folder on a USB stick.

Power box off...put USB in....power up....wait untill it says remove and reboot...

All done. :D

connectivity is not a problem, problem is it;s looks like EPG import uses all the vu+ resources , because hourglass icon is on the screen all the time, receiver is just stuck.

Imported mine this morning, and all worked fine.

After yours has finished importing, go back to the epg downloader, and press the epg button, should give you the log. Press the button to save it, and upload here...

As sic says. There's a check script already running on the box... This will restart cccam if it is not running or appears to have frozen...

As for the cron manager, it is running by default. To get it to run cron jobs, you need to edit the file at /etc/cron/ called root. Look up how to add cron jobs:

the softcam manger checks that the softcam is running every 30mins so no need for that

sorry for this but i too have the problem with something blocking the info on the media player as mentioned by canthackit in post #31. can some one take a look at this please?
also when i rewind in time shift its jumps about alot and on my other images it was a smooth in rewind as it was in fastforward ? Any ideas please

have you set it upto download from SETUP --> Vu+ HD --> EPG Setup

turn it on.
press blue from what data you want (choose one or more)
set it whether you want to download everyday
then press yellow to start a manual download

i find that it keeps the box nice and fresh all the time if you set the box to reboot at like say 04.00 then the epg to update at 04.10 everyday

Loaded the image last night only picked up the box on staurday morning. I had aTM800 but returned it and paid the extra as far as i am concerned they are not in the same league.

Are there differnet ccam 2.14 files i have found one and before i try to ftp to the box will it be the right one.

To get cccam working on the box, download the cccam from the image server (long blue -> green -> cams). This way, it integrates with the softcam in the image, and also runs the camcheck script to ensure cccam is always running

just a note guy's please bare with us, this our first image and it is based the original Vu+ Duo 5.2 image, so any bugs that are in that image might be here too. we have fixed quite a few, but as there is no developers manual for Enigma2 it hard for us to find the root cause of problems, (unless skin related) ie the Timeshift Bug not been smooth on rewind it's hard to find where in the code to start looking, also to say that it works in other images does not help much as we dont know their coded either, and i doubt any other team would be will to help out. so if any of you have or can help out in the coding area all help is gratefully received.

if you know how to use cron, for now you will have to set it manually just create a folder 'cron' folder in /etc and edit your root file so like this

create '/etc/cron' folder and create a file root put all your cron jobs in there and it should run them.

Thanks for the nice image. I also have an issue with EPG. I'm watching mostly 39E and the provider is Bulsatcom. With the other images I never need to download any information. When I installed VIX image, the EPG stay empty. On the info bar I can see now/next broadcast, but nothing in EPG menu. From the sources I can download the epg that I need. Please advise me what to do and sorry for my poor english.

P.S.

Also, I can't scan 16E, whole satellite. I get message to check my tuner configuration. No such problems with other sats.

First of all , thanks to everyone involved for a great image.

I have a slight problem with my setup with this image. I have a multiu LNB setup, 4 lnbs into a switch. When I setup the switch I get 2 of the LNB's seeing only Horizontal frequencies, and the other two only vertical.

Does anyone know off the top of their head to save me a bit of time reflashing my old image, what setting in the advanced services searching menu effects this ?

I guess that it is different than in the DE images.

as i dont really want to change this for the main image, as it will look worse on tv with good overscan (my TV allows me to turn overscan off, so i get get FULL 1080x1920 pixels :D), how about if i add a option into the "Skin Setting" to shift the menus to the right abit when enabled ?

I'm trying to run a combination of OSCAM and MGCAMD.
I can't find a way to get these to start on this image.

Is the correct place for this to be started in /etc/init.d
And do the files script have to be set-up with a particular name (mine is currently softcam.OSCAM_MGCamd)
AM I missing something obvious here?

can u find the sat on the list for the tuner or not.

Installed it tonight, so far so good, except, I tried to mount a CFIS drive, it said it was already mounted but :
1 It doesn't appear under 'Media Player ' I did copy my setting across.
1 I have a small unlabelled window with a black bar sitting on top of my HDD info and the directory below it

Another thing about the subtitles on this image.
Is it possible to change the font and the colour of the the subs anywhere?
Purple insn´t the best colour regrding to visability.
On the PLi it was all white and much more easy to read.

To get EPG working choose either blue button EPGImport or menu setup vu+hd

once loaded you can select what channels you wish in your epg..set time for update and number of days to source once you done this i would then select manual to start downloading EPG data to start your planner up then it should update at the set times after.

Incase nobody has found it you can see CCcam connection data in the channel banner press ok once to see normal channel prog details press twice for addional CCcam data regarding connection hops etc

Just playing with the new image and like it, was using pli before.

Just a few problems/queries

Can I

Format a USB stick (timeshift) to ext3 with this image can't find anything in the menus

I can't see my NAS drive with this image it was in storage device list on the pli image

For some reason alot of the channels (mainly HD) in the chanel list are greyed out rather than white. I can select them Ok just a bit strange, i'm using the B16MCC Bouquets

Im wondering with old enigma1 you was able to move OSD anywhere on the screen withing the program when enigma 2 was introduced was this removed as i feel this would resolve all the problems members are having using various tv sets the option to be able to move the osd would be a simple solution

To answer one of my own questions regarding the color of the font used for the subs just do the following to have it changed from red to white.


If you're using the default skin (Vu+ HD-Plus), then edit the file /usr/share/enigma2/Vu_HD_Plus/skin.xml
Find the <subtitle> section and locate this part:

<sub name="Subtitle_TTX" font="Regular;30" shadowColor="#40101010" shadowOffset="3,3" />

and add a color definition:

<sub name="Subtitle_TTX" font="Regular;30" foregroundColor="#FFFFFF" shadowColor="#40101010" shadowOffset="3,3" />

(notice the forgroundColor bit is being set to FFFFFF, or 'white' to us humans)

Now, you need to restart Enigma GUI or simply reboot your box.

I assume this would also work for a different skin, provided you edit it's associated skin.xml file. Take backup of the original skin.xml before you change anyhing.I guess you can tweak it more but for now this does it for me. It works great but as usual, backup the file BEFORE you change anything!
Do you think you can implement this in a future release of VIX?

Thanks. I know this very well, but as I mention in my request for help, this sources are very limited to just a few providers. I need for 39E, Bulsatcom. With the other images EPG working like a charm and I don't need to download or import anything. I like this image, but I will go back to VTI until this issue is fixed somehow.

I've been using it all day and must say its one hell of an accomplishment for a first effort. Sure there are a few things not perfect as yet but as has been stated some of these may not be image specific but originating from the official release. Really love the feature that works like Series Link, superb!

I always tried new images when they were released but always ended up going back to BH as I this is what was familiar to me from my DM800 days, and for me it did everything i needed it to do, and I loved Armys Ghost skin. But I will be keeping this one on. The improvements outweigh the niggles for me.

Is it possible to get the ecm time displayed rather than Nan showing. I have read the instruction on how to but also the caution on using this method and i dont wanna be slowing down my Duo.

as for ecm time, unfortunately this is a limited by cccam and the official release. i had tried the so-called fix for almost a weak and must say it is very effective slowing down the box and so i reverted back and stopped using it. thus, wouldn't recommend on a practical basis and not just theoretical.

@ the FABULOUS VIX team: Just installed VIX but seems to suffer like canthackit do... All the menus are cut off a bit on the left side. But I'm currently using a Philips 32" CRT WS TV.
I edited the skin.xml file for a test. Positioned the Information/About menu to "60,0" instead, and I think it was spot on. What does actually this mean? Overscan? Dont't think I can det rid of it in the TV's menu(?)...
Also I found out that Vu_HD_plus skin is the only one functioning properly right now. Greenscreens when using some of the other default installed, and going into the "Softcam" menu...

I think you have made it too easy to delete a recording ,i prefer a two button press asking me if i'm seriously going to delete "how fat is your step mothers granddaughter" ,the wife or kids could easily delete them without much effort.
Just my opinion, others might prefer it.

@ the developers: when selecting sattelite the first time I noticed that there were no 0.8°W sattelite, only 0.9°W. This gave me problems when ftp'ing my "old" bouquets to the reciever. These were based on 0.8°W. Solution simple --> download & replace satellites.xml. Perhaps this could be done in a future image release? Perhaps provide both of them? Couldn't find anything on
satellites-xml.euabout 0.9°W satellite...

When you were using the de image, did you have the picons definitely in the usb? I'm wondering whether they were stored in the local flash, and when you re-installed the image, you cleared the flash out?! With the bmcc settings (and I believe the vusupport ones), they use the different service ref to most picons, and wondering whether you might've uploaded a new set of picons to the flash rather than the usb?!

How'd you connect your box to the tv?! via hdmi routed from the amp?! If so, can you try direct in to the tv with your vuplus via hdmi?!

Until tomorrow I'm using a Philips 32" CRT widescreen TV. Using scart direct from VU to TV. From tomorrow on I'll hopefully be using a Panasonic TXP50GE20E plasma.

when you press delete (RED), it moves the file to the trashcan, it does not delete it immediately. if you want to empty trash, highlight it and press menu, then you will see an option to empty trash, or if you go inside trashcan and delete a file from there it will remove it permanently

Installed ccam 2.14 from the plugins then into the softcam menu and it's there.

There is none and 2.14 i activate the ccam the egg timer comes and does it ok but every time i go out of it it defaults to none

@pio - Go to the listing of the files /movies you currently have recoerded. In the list at the top there is trash. When you delete a file from the list, it will drop in to there. You can then go in to the trash and permenantly delete the file.

Hi all
I have had the image installed for a day now and have to say you have done a great job.

I have one problem but i am not sure if it is related to the image or the epg grabber has anyone else got a problem with the EPG not populating most of the Danish channels, it seems to download the Rytec Nordic xmltv fine but most of the EPG is empty.

Try the following: -

2. Check with a different set or Enigma 2 settings.

image is pretty good, apart from a little black bar at the bootom of the picture jumping up and down, on some channels, it is very noticable, i am using a 42inch panasonic plasma, never had this problem on any other image, and another problem, i cant get any epg working it just shows blank, and ccam info on the skin like alot of other skins, i cant find, for time and hops and stuff, this image could be the best if all of them problems get resolved, or am i looking in the wrong parts for these problems, the pic quality is good though, i am not sure if to keep or reflash. the little black bar at the bottom is very annoying,

Can you post a screen shot of the black bar at the bottom?! Not seen one and not sure what you mean by it...

As for the problem with cam info, read my reply in your other post... You need to view the second info bar (as shown by the screenshots in the first post, it is available, just not working with ecm time as no oe1.6 images do properly!)...

i have tried to take a photo with a high res camara and it doesnt show up on the pic i took, it happens on a couple of channels, history hd uk, and a few others, and for av settings i have it like this,


vid output, dvi
mode 720p
refresh rate 50hz
display 4.3 just scale
display 16:9 just scale
dolby digital default, no
dolby dig downmix, yes
general dolby delay 0
general pcm delay 0
osd vis, full up
scaler sharpness, half way up




right epg i have enabled, gone to ryteck uk, and pressed ok, then saved, gone and pressed the tv button, nothing showing up, dont knowe what to do now with epg m8,

cccam info i have solved it, i pressed ok twice, but wanted it so i could just press once, but tried to change it but diddnt work, it is epg now that is my main problem and the black bar, it is not visible at the moment, as i am watching mtvnhd

When you have done this you must tell it to "manually update" the EPG or else it will wait until the time you put in the menys for the update to take place.
Just choose "manual update" and you will see that the EPG will be there.

There must have been an issue with you tuner settings / satellites.xml file.
