Virgin Media has announced that it will comply with a court ruling ordering it to block indexing website Newzbin2.
The news follows a High Court ruling forcing fellow service providers Sky Talk Talk and BT to take action against the site following a copyright suit brought about by the MPAA.
"We've received an order from the courts requiring us to prevent access to Newzbin in order to help protect against copyright infringement," read a statement from Virgin.
"As a responsible ISP, Virgin Media complies with court orders addressed to us, but we strongly believe that changing consumer behaviour to tackle copyright infringement also needs compelling legal alternatives to give consumers access to great content at the right price."
Google recently announced that it is clamping down on online piracy by lowering the search rankings of sites deemed to be in violation of copyright infringement.
The Motion Picture Association of America, a key opponent of online piracy, gave Google's action a lukewarm response, stating its hope that the approach would steer consumers towards legitimate online content.
