got my ultimo last week so thought id have a play with the vfd icons
whilst the ones on here look great i think they look a little small.
im not fussed with some of the info avaialble on the vfd so i removed some of it and made the picons bigger.

ive taken sandmans or ev0s picons (i cannot remeber which now) and re-sized them to 175x64. Using ViX 2.4 image
ive only done the HD Bouquet so far just to get a feel for them.
copy the lcd_picon folder to /media/usb
and put the skin_display_picon.xml into /usr/share/enigma2
then restart enigma2.
ive re-done a few picons but some just dont look right when done, so theres the odd one or 2 missing.
what are the exact specifications the files need to be? in case i can get some made from scratch.
lemme know what u think.
ive changed the vfd icons and added more to the vfd.
the rec icon blinks instead of being solid on the vfd
added some more large picons for HD bouquet and some in entertainment bouquet
i cannot test the update icon atm as there is no update to perform :P but it should appear underneath the rec icon and to the left of the 16:9 icon and blink when theres stable or unstable updates.

re-done loads of the picons and kept a load from other packs and just re-sized to fit aswell.
resized fonts throughout the menus
slowly working my way through the whole list, these picons are in line with the dbuk bouquets and regionals are north west atm, untill i add in the variants.

Firstly, excellent work mate, you're doing a smashing job.
Just a quick question regarding the quote above, should I put lcd_picon folder in the /media/usb/ folder if I'm not using a USB?

still a ton more to go though yet! i dont mind its keeping me busy for abit.
i only mentioned /media/usb as thats all im using to put them on.
i assume for hdd you put them in /media/hdd and for internal flash i think its /usr/share/enigma2 im not sure ive never stored them anywhere else.
hopefully someone can clarify that.

Hi, I'm trying to put the picons 19.2 and not get to see them.
I put the picon with the same characteristics as yours.
and put my lcd and skin_picon.xml folders, but not out.
I enclose picon created, to see if you see the fault.

Just an FYI mate, ITV HD doesn't seem to work for me? Everything else looks brilliant
there are no regional variants in there yet.
atm its set for North West (Granada) so it wont show if your in another region, it'll need renaming.
im just getting a few more bouquets done, i'll upload them tonight, and then i'll start adding in the regional ones.

I have one question; not sure if this is possible but when using the QuickEPG mode (left/right buttons) the picons are not showing, instead the channel name and EPG is coming up. Would it be possible to have this working like the up/down buttons? Presumably, its related to the xml file?

Just put it on my box and its brilliant. The left/right buttons work flawlessly with the picons still showing. However, when I press the up/down key it initially shows text of the channel name on the display until you press up/down again then it goes back into vfd picon mode. I know I'm being nitty gritty hear but its one tweak away from being perfect. Not sure if this is changeable though?

Just loaded them on m8, there fab, just 1 missing for me BBC 1 Scotland, any chance you can do that one for us Scots :-)

I just tried out these picons, wow they are brilliant I love the size and skin setting. It makes the vfd look very elegant and tidy. Nice job rossi. Looking forward to more especially the regional ones. Thanks m8.

Just a heads up, updated the latest version of Vix this afternoon 3.0 237, had to re-apply the skin xml, just incase anybody else needed to know :-), cheers m8, top picons !!!
yes the skin.xml file will be overwritten upon a update, rob may be able to better clarify but you may be able to create a skin_user.xml file that will not be overwritten on every update therefore keeping your customizations intact.
oh ye i forgot about the skin_user.xml
i used to use this for the picons on the dm800se oled, so it would never get overwritten.
tis a pita to keep having to re-upload the xml after an update.
i'll take a look tonight.

when you download an update wont the update put a new one in /usr/share/enigma2?
so after that will the one in /etc/enigma2 still be read instead of /usr/share/enigma2?

I am pretty sure thats how it works, but I can't test at the moment.
Takes seconds to tranfer across the xml file guys, it's no biggie :-), picons look great, keep up the good work m8 !!

working ok, so you need to put my skin_display_picon.xml into /etc/enigma2 and leave the original one in /usr/share/enigma2
i also remembered you need to replace the lcd folder with mine as some of my icons are different to the original ones and also different size, not sure how to work around that one yet.
Hi Rossi, ive had to change my itv transponder settings today, and now i have ive lost the big itv1 logo, any ideas what could be causing it, the channel has changed from a dvb-s2 to dvb-s, could that cause a problem with the lcd picons.

the only changes ive seen for itv lately were for granda and london, but i think they were false as they still working.
which itv channel have you changed?

I have been resizing 19e vfd picons to the larger size for vix image and tried them and they work perfectly with rossi's skin display and lcd files just like the 28e ones. I have 1,074 of them done and now working on 13e. I would like to upload them for those who are interested but I don't know how to go about it.

Compress the archive ( the folder containing the Picons ) with winrar or winzip then create a thread / post and click on the advanced tab then manage attachments, you can then upload the file to the forum.

little update
i was getting tired of re-uploading the lcd icons after an online image update
not vix's fault but my own for changing them, so i re-altered the display slightly to use the vix original icons. so after an update the vfd remains normal.
attached the new xml

Not sure why but I can't get this working on the latest vix image. After transferring the xml file to /etc/enigma2 and /usr/share/enigma2/ then restarting it seems to go to the original vix layout.
Show Picon's is set to yes in the display settings as well.
Where am I going wrong?
Alternatively, is there any chance you can get these picons in the plugins menu. The set is more recent than Sandman and Evos so I'm surprised its not in the plugins...

Hi guys how ya getting on with your picons? Firstly thanks to rossi2000 for resizing these, they do look very nice. I had problems with the rollers before with the smaller ones that would allow the channel names to partly show from underneath. With the large ones there are some missing, eg BBC3. Or does anyone know how to allocate the pngs to the missing channels using the numbers with the pngs?

The only solution is to install the large VFD picons. Then you can't see the channel name.

hi guys, i have transferred these large picons to my usb, and got them working, but dont want to work for me on sky sports 1,2&3 all the rest work great. look really cool, any ideas why those three channels dont wanna work?
I have a VU Ultimo running VIX 3.600 by the way.
it's possible that something like the channel references have changed for those channels since the picons were created. Thats just a guess on my part though as i dont bother with picons on the VFD of my ultimo.

You don't have to enable picons: if they're in the right location (i.e. /picon) the box will use them.

Just stared looking back into these as noticed more and more were showing as OE-A.
I have Sky1 but it wont display. The work by Rossi and Sandman has been immense. Is there a way of assigning the ones that for some reason wont show? I will have a go (limited knowledge) of finding all the missing ones and making them but need to understand a bit more on how you assign these to display for a certain channel please?

The picons will be in a folder.
The csv file is for reference purposes. You can use it for manipulation if you want to. That line is a header. It is repeated sequentially so that it can be read without having to freeze the top line.

Cant get the likes of comedy central to even be read. Tried renaming as an SNP and an SNR name to no avail. Just shows the Hades Picon. Any ideas?

There is one script/plugin to rename. Another to list missing ones. You've used the list one.

You have a list of missing picons. Surely you can look at them and rename them. You can either rename them by Service reference or Service Name. Personally I would have used the rename script, not missing script.
Upload what you have done so far.

I have renamed them against a lamedb file around the same time. The ones that are blatantly wrong are in a separate folder. The others may need to be looked at.
