I have formatted a 1tb hdd on the pc and deleted Volumn. Attached it to the Solo box, went to Setup-System-Harddisk-Initialisation.....Picked the harddrive and pressed red and yes. I get the error " NO DISPLAYABLE FILES FOUND". I have setup the record path to the hdd but when I go to record I get the error "WRITE ERROR WHILE RECORDING. DISK FULL".

What filesystem did you format he HDD?
If NFS: this is read-only for E2 boxes.
Best way is to have the box initialise (= format) the drive: that will be in the best format, i.e. Ext4.

I went to convert to ext4 and pressed record then and the same error came up

But what was the filesystem? Converting will only work if it was Ext3.

Filesystem ........ERROR FILESYSTEM ( AND NOT SWAP OR UFS OR SOMETHING ELSE), THEN THE SUPERBLOCK IS CORRUPT, AND YOU MIGHT TRY RUNNING E2FSCK WITH AN ALTERNATE SUPERBLOCK.

E2FSCK -B 8193 <DEVICE>

Maxwell

yes but what was did information about the drive say ?

tandaman
06-07-12, 19:21
Size: 931gb...Mount: None.....Device: /dev/sda1...Type: Unavailable.

Maxwell

ok so the box can actually see it, put it back on the pc and repartition and full format as fat32 no need to delete volume afterwards, when you put it back on the solo check the drive can be seen in mount manager then go and initialise, bear in mind that 1TB will take quite a while to complete initialisation - do not attempt to do anything at all with the drive during this time.
Just out of interest which OS are you using on the PC ?

tandaman
06-07-12, 19:38
Its windows 7...While initailisation is taking place can I exit and watch tv

Maxwell
06-07-12, 19:44
yes you can watch tv - reason I wanted to know the os is because I have had some problems recently with USB sticks not being recognised after formatting with win 7 but if I do the same procedure with an XP machine it all works fine first time - strange

tandaman

Ok guys Im on the verge of divorce...I tried 2 different hard drive. 1tb and 250gb. Both formatted on pc with windows 7 and laptop with trial version of windows 8. Same result. Disk is full and so on. Would it help in any way if the image was reinstalled and start from scratch.

Have you followed the advice to format in the sat box? Menu Setup System HDD and then initialize it?

Did you allow the box sufficient time for the formatting process? On large HDD this can take quite some time.

I pointed this out to him earlier in the thread
@tandaman - the reason it is saying the disk is full is that the disk is not mounted correctly or the path is incorrect and the box is trying to record to the internal flash so it reports as disk full - can you get a screen grab of menu>setup>vix>mount manager and menu>setup>system>Recording Settings

Right, it looks like your problem is that your usb drive is not being used as HDD so go back into mount manager (as first pic) and press the Red button to use it as hdd then reboot.
Also to check the free space on the drive go to menu>information>devices this will show total disk space and free space

tandaman
08-07-12, 12:30
When I press Red to Use as HDD the mount goes to NONE and the type UNAVAILABLE

tandaman
08-07-12, 12:32
Under the info the hdd says ( 249.999gb, -1 MB free )

Stanman
08-07-12, 12:32
Try pressing green to set up mounts and than manually pressing < > to change the mount to HDD. Make sure to save and just for good measure reboot the box.

Maxwell
08-07-12, 12:35
in the same menu can you press the green button for setup mounts and set it as /media/hdd

Edit:Cant type as fast as Stan lol

tandaman
08-07-12, 12:46

Stanman
08-07-12, 12:46

Maxwell
