Hi All,

Just initialize it using the menu option and it will all be taken care of.

Tried that, came up with a 'mount failure'
format it as fat32 with the pc and then try again with the duo to initialise

As FAT32 is limited to 4GB will that not be a problem??
Thanks.
It won't matter as when you initialise it on the duo it will change the file system to ext4.
Have formatted to FAT32, when trying to initialise it comes up with error as below:
Unable to initialise harddisk.
Error: Mount Failed
Drive works fine in a computer, so could it be it's not compatabile with the box? If so any recommendations on a new HDD 1TB.
Thanks.
delete the partition with the pc
I did before I formatted it to FAT32.:(
create a new one and reformat ?
Okay just did as you said, and awaiting for box to boot up, one question would it matter if I did a 'quick format'
stuck on 'ading ng.....
Will not let me do anything with remote.....
No don't fancy using this HDD, just disconnected and box works again.
I will just invest in a new one to much agro, any recommendations?
Thks for your help.
There's a thread on various HDD options here:

Best advice I've heard is to go for a 5400 rpm drive - quite fast enough, but quieter and cooler than a 7200 rpm one (like my Samsung!)

Correct. Look/ask for special DVR-HDD's.
Hi All,
Bought a NEW 2TB Samsung 5400rpm, still get the same problem:(
Any help would be appreciated.
Well, that is unusual. Having two drives fail to initialise the same way suggests that it is the Duo that is the problem, not the drives. So, it's got to be hardware, firmware, or software.
Maybe the next step is to reflash the Duo, possibly even trying a different image, and try again. If no joy there, then it looks like a hardware issue.
(Or, it's something simple that hasn't occurred to me - always a strong possibility.)

Managed to fix.
1, I reseated the cables.
2, Whilst the box was booting up pressed Blue Blue, went into device manager and it picked it up, box restarted.
3, Initialized and worked first time.
Thanks to all.
