How to flash here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?14123-HowTo-updating-image-Vu-Ultimo

Latest image here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/enigma2/openvix/index.php?dir=Vu%2BUltimo/

Make sure the USB stick is formatted FAT32. Extract the flash files to your desktop and copy the vuplus folder to the root of your usb stick.

When you power on are you getting the message on the front LCD to press '-' button?

Also try this tool to format your USB stick http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?45-USB-Format-Tool Or try a different stick.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
Yes, i do get the message "press button" and i press the the button on the front but it just goes "starting" and thats it.
I spent several hours trying everything....used three different types of flash.
Pls what next can you help with? am gonna try extracting the image first onto my desktop and let you know how i go.
Thanks so much.
De.

So are you touching the '-' minus button when it asks? If its not flashing then theres something wrong with the files you transfered to USB stick or the actual USB sticks you are using. Try formatting a stick with the HP utility posted above.

assume on the ultimo (as is the case with the duo) that you must remove all other usb sticks from the box when flashing
