Hi

I'm have got a re-start loop after trying to add a mount point which got misspelled as /media/net/rosenhofserver1videos instead of /media/net/rosenhofserver1/videos (a missing "/")

In etc/fstab I had this when it wasn't working

rootfs / auto defaults 1 1
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0
tmpfs /var/volatile tmpfs defaults 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs mode=0777 0 0

/dev/sda1 /media/hdd auto defaults 0 0
192.168.2.1:/export/hdd /media/net/rosenhofserver1videos nfs rsize=32768,wsize=32768,timeo=14,intr 0 0

Then I used vi to remove that last line back to this

root@vuduo:/etc# cat fstab
rootfs / auto defaults 1 1
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0
tmpfs /var/volatile tmpfs defaults 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs mode=0777 0 0

/dev/sda1 /media/hdd auto defaults 0 0
root@vuduo:/etc#
but the Vu+ just keeps to reboot over and over.

Any clues on what I can to to get it back in working order?
I can skip the mount for now if I just get the box to work.
I can still see "...rosenhofserver1videos..." in the crash logs. last log attached.

When I power it up with the switch on the back of the box it starts normally in the beginning with the spinning vix and "STARTING" and the "LOADING..."

then an empty info bar pops up

and it caches and then it just keeps booting and crash for ever.

I Haven't upgraded to the latest version on the image yet since can't be done without loosing all installed cams, picon's and all settings

root@vuduo:/etc# cat version
201106111625

root@vuduo:/etc# cat image-version
box_type=vuduo
build_type=0
version=2.2.110

comment=ViX
target=9

catalog=http://www.vuplus-support.co.uk

I can still reach the unit with telnet and ftp but the web interface is down/not responding.

Any help is highly appreciated

This might be fixable via telnet, or file deletions via ftp, but I am not clever enough to suggest any thing other than wait until tomorrow, when some of the Dev Team are around, the only other alternative of course is to put a new image on the unit

You're using an old version of the image which is no longer supported.
Backing up all installed cams, picons and all settings really isn't that hard.
FTP your cams & config files for them to your PC along with your picons.
Use Dreambox edit to save a copy of your bouquets to your PC.

Then update to 2.4 & ftp everything back.

[edit] don't forget to change the permissions on the cams to 755 by telnet or ftp.

You should be up & running on the latest image in less than 10 minutes.

Thanks I guessed that that was the solution, any hints on what directories that should be copied to backup, the config, cams, timers and the picons (I think I have the picons on the USB stick on the backside), picons are less important.

if you are using CCCam, copy the CCcam.cfg from the ETC folder on your unit
your channel list, unless its special, thats easy enough to sort out from the various settings list available on the forum
the CCcam itself again can be easily replaced

It's not the solution but it's an idea & will keep you up to date with the latest & best image...

CCcam config: /etc/CCcam.cfg
Oscam configs: /etc/tuxbox/config/
Softcams: /usr/softcams/
Picons: on the root of your USB stick (/media/usb/) probably...
Timers: /etc/enigma2/

Well, up and running in 10 minutes... perhaps if you are familiar with every detail.
The VU+/VIX is so god that I rarely do any changes and therefore I don't remember what needs to be configured and how to get it the way I want.

But now it's up and running with

201205131710

box_type=vuduo
build_type=0
version=2.4
build=96
drivers=20120228

But I'm only half way there, the Canal Digital/Telenor (Conax module/card) is workin but not Viasat (softcam/card) and the image won't fit my TV any more even it's 42"
But the kids will be satisfied and I can try to fix the rest tomorrow.
Thanks for the help so far.

Use 0sd
to sort out the over scan...

glad you're sorted on latest image, nice & easy...
as basilyoung suggests, go to Menu/Setup/System/OSD/OSD Position Setup

Maxwell

Far better to turn the overscan off on the TV and only use the OSD position setup options if it is not possible to adjust the TV.
Whats the make and model of your TV ?

HeRmAN

It's A Hitachi 42PD9700
I will check this later today

And now I can edit my last post, can it only be edited once?

Well, back to the issue.
I used the Menu/Setup/System/OSD/OSD Position Setup to adjust the OSB/Menus since the TV only shows the signal in "Full" mode
But a bit strange that it changed even when I restored the config.
Now I'm using

Move Left/Right 20
Width 670
Move up/Down 20
Height 530

A/V Settings is HDMI 1080i for this TV

Thank you guys, the main issues with this thread is resolved so it can be closed.
I will now look into the Cam issue to get Viasat to work again. (Swedish/Nordic operator)

Well I thought that this was solved but it's not.
I still think that the A/V settings has been wrong when upgrading to the 2.4 image.
When I browse through the channels, some of them has the channel logo outside of the visible image and the second line of the subtitles is outside too.

Image removed - linked to porn - please be more careful in future.

Obvious missing parts marked in red, I can only see the part I have marked in green on the TV, But on the computer I can see that there should be more and that something is wrong.
I'm almost regret that I upgraded sine it haven't been any improvements yet.

Do I need to start over to flash it again? And will that help?

which skin is it that your using ?

and did you restore any settings when you flashed the ViX 2.4 image ? if so which version of the image did you use to make the backup of these settings etc ?.

HeRmAN

I did the backup with the version I had prior to the flashing

root@vuduo:/etc# cat version
201106111625

root@vuduo:/etc# cat image-version
box_type=vuduo
build_type=0

Skin: I haven't changed anything and it says in Main Menu/Setup/System/Skin Setup ->ViX_Night_HD
I tried with the default skin and it looked horrible so I swtched back to ViX_Night_HD

I have tried to browse through the channels with both skins and just now all channels I have checked looks OK.
But I'm confused. It looks like it's related to TV4 Guld, TV4 Fakta (Haven't seen it on other channels so it's not a big problem even though it's annoying)
I'll leave it here for a few days to see if it a real problem instead of wasting your time on it.

Edit> Now I have seed the same issue with Cartoon Network (Telenor Thor/Intelsat 11309Mhz V 24500 QPSK-7/8) and Boomerang

Maxwell

So you have restored a backup from version 2.2 into version 2.4 despite there being explicit instructions in the download threads not to do that, this will be why you now have problems :D

If that is the case and you have restored settings from a backup of the ViX 2.2 image then that is almost certainly the route of all your problems. try flashing the image again but this time DO NOT restore any settings from the ViX 2.2 image. you can save things like your cam configuration files but set all the rest up from scratch.

also it is worth noting that we always recommend a full fresh flash when moving between major versions such as 2.2 to 2.3 or 2.3 to 2.4 as so many changes are made between these versions that using backups to restore settings always leads to major problems.

Oops, I have just googled for a image upload site and I use adblockers etc. So I haven't seen any of it. Will try to use a better one next time.

OK, I'll start over from scratch.
About the cam configuration I haven't got it to work yet, Softcam is all empty and I have subscriber cards for all channels so I'm not trying to enable any card sharing.

Get yourself up and running then place CCcam into /usr/softcams and change its permissions to 755 - your config goes in /etc

Then you may remove the images in post #1 also, I used the same image site. (And I recommend Adblock Plus since it filter out all that porn you can see but I don't)

And I'm just started over again.

Yes, I suggested you ftp your picons, cams & config files for them back

This was very usefull, I did it and the permissions was
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1249704 Jun 11 19:56 CCcam.2.2.1

After that It was possible to start CCcam and I can see Viasat channels again :-)

Now I think I'm back with a working device as I had a few days ago but with a new image version.
I will now search for new channels since Canal Digital have moved many channels recently, MotorsTV is gone.
Then I will do a backup again from this version and throw away the old one.

But I don't thing that the restore of the old config was a problem, I could get the same distorted image on the same channels by changing the A/V setting "Display 4:3 content as..."

Sorry, forgot to mention about permissions on the cams.
Post now updated for anyone else that comes across your issues.
