Hi all
I have a realy anoying problem with my ultimo
The problem is when viewing channels its like skipping frames
On sd and some hd depending on the broadcast it making it realy Juddary. scroling text on news etc is ok.
i dont know whats causing it but somethings like cartoons/sport look very interlaced on fast movment.
Brurring on fast movment left/up/down Panning is someyimes juddary
I have tryied everything to cure it with the plugins and it makes no difrance.

The problem is hard to explain. and all images are the same.
auto res plugin has no effect on it..
anyone got this problem or is it just me?
could this be a fault?
I dont think the seller will do anything about this as its hard to provide proof.
Hope this problem sorts itself about mabie drivers etc..
I have other e2 boxes and none have this problem....

Swap tuners over m8, see if it's a faulty tuner ?

jamie-warez
09-06-12, 22:27
will disable tuner 1 that will force just tuner 2 and see if it helps..

Hi,
disable all features your TV has to offer. I mean 100Hz (or more), sharpen or noise filter and so on. Set your Ultimo fixed to 720p or 1080i and 50Hz and see if it makes a difference.

ciao

with moving images, is there a trail ( ghost image ) following the moving subject?

or is the screen totally jumbled

the other thing to check, is the HDMI cable

have you got time shift running??

I am just trying to eliminate possible causes

Remove the tuners m8, then put one in and try it, if the same swap with other tuner to see if thats the same, you do have it connected via the HDMI lead and not scart or that ?

basilyoung
10-06-12, 00:13
there are a number of possibility's

despite good signal strengths it could be interference from another sat
a corrupt channel list/sat xml file
dodgy HDMI cable
if a cam is running, ie, cccam, is auto update running, I had a problem with this, disabled it, and now all is ok

also where was the unit bought from, is it a genuine unit?

jamie-warez
10-06-12, 00:19
yea have it connected via hdmi
I have tested with 2 cables..

It's happening with iptv streams also so i dont tthink its tuner problem....

The wife said i am seeing things LOL:mad:

but my 6 year old can see it so thats something

I just wonder what the cause is...

oh well, thats that idea killed off

I have an Ultimo here, and no problems what ever

where did you get the unit from, and how much was it?

it does sound like there is a fault with the unit

jamie-warez
10-06-12, 00:30
i got it from red apple ditial for 450

To me it looks like a processing problem. but i aint clued up on video processing.

i am going to test on another tv. and make some recordings with my ipbox and view them on my ultimo.

basilyoung
10-06-12, 00:34
well thats a top price, the reason for the question, was there could be a possibility of the unit being a clone, but doubt thats the case

one other possibility is the unit set to 1080, or 720...if 1080, try 720,

jamie-warez
10-06-12, 00:37
yea tested that also with the autorez plugin with it set to sd native 576i

basilyoung

jamie-warez

I got BlackHole-1.7.5 LSK at the moment i have tested loads of images...

i am testing some recordings now.. recordings from other box...
if i cant see the problem then..

well hopefully someone in the morning might help you with a solution, its a shame you found us after you bought the unit, our sponcer is second to none, and all units are tested before dispatch, but this does,nt help you now

please stick with it, but in the end, you might need to contact the peeps you bought from

jamie your not alone,
I mentioned this some time back when the new bootloader was given, it was since this it has happen, and others have also stated the same.
This is on my duo box.
It is like sharp small lines on fast movements..
Originally i tried it on my sons same tv using there leads etc and still same.
It is nothing to with hdmi leads, tv settings or anything as my setup was exact same nothing changed then the bootloader was installed, then the fault.
It is still here today and annoying.
I will have to get hold of another box other than a vu to test and see if the problem is still there as i am yet to do this as not easy to get hold of a box for free to test lol.

It is like sharp small lines on fast movements.
That sounds like (de)interlace problems.
What is the resolution of the channels on whci that happens?
What is the video-output setting of your box.

Well, one thing is for sure: the bootloader can't have anything to do with it. Nothing the bootloader does has any influence on the system's output.

thanks m8..

I don't know if this will help but I had to put a Variable attenuator on my Ultimo, the symptoms I noticed when not using a attenuator apart from not getting all the channels I should get was the odd stutter/jerkiness. I'm using a 1.2 dish.

I know this sounds daft, but have you tried uninstalling the video enhancements system plugin? I've tried that and I sware the picture is sharper and clearer. SD seems better, but there seems a marked improvement with HD sharpness.

I'm not saying that is where the problem is (I'm still a newbie), but it might be something else to try to see if it fixes it.

It maybe like being an audiophile with sound. The less the original signal is played with (the less software is handling it) the more pure the output and you can just use the TV to adjust many of those settings. Just thinking aloud m8:wave:

What is the resolution of the channels on which that happens?

On sd is not as noticeable, on hd for example it is on sports news channel hd, the full picture is clear, but as always on sky sports news you see little preview boxes bottom right, it is these that show it clearer as a small screen thus bigger slices is how i can say they look.
sky one adverts, anything advert wise shows this issue and not as much in the actual programs but it is there.
I have as one m ember suggested remove teh video enhancements system plugin to see if any changes.
I thought possibly it could be the new 2.3 image when it was introduced, but i have used bh images of same period and still there, which lead me to believe the bootloader as like i say i never had this in v2.1 etc.
Cheers
output form box is 1080i, but i have tested on 720 and the same
