MODS: Tread repost from General Discussion because of lack of interest.

I have been converted recorded TV to AVI's using Super

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

It's free and works fairly well. And you can select various different encoding method. I used xvid.

I use AVI Trimmer

http://www.solveigmm.com/?Products&p=AVITrimmer

to trim the before and after, to just get the recorded program.

Somethings I use virtualdub to crop the sides, if the recording has an extra black border around the image.

Has anyone found a better way?

Downloaded both, I will try them.
So far, I am pretty happy with playing trimmed/cut+joined/remuxed ts files.
For this, the best tool I could find is BitstreamTools Transport Stream Packet Editor.
Unfortunately, it is not free and pretty expensive ($50 or $60), and when my evaluation period ends I will have to think what to do next.
I would not even mind paying for it that much, but its protection/license handling system might cause problems in the future with computer upgrades, requiring contacting the author, and will he be around, who knows....
