vu+remote has lost ability to mute and volume up/down

New vu+ duo box/remote. Tried to set remote up for tv. Was inputting code (following instructions) when mute icon froze on screen. After a reboot it disappeared but now vu+remote has lost ability to mute and volume up/down! Don't think it's the remote ... took batteries out for 2 hours. Did a factory re-set but that didn't help. Any ideas?

Disable the HDMI-CEC plugin.

BTW: Do you think that posting the same questions on multiple forums will give you multiple answers?

Hey thanks no need to answer ... just found this
In case you want to reset the configured TV set-up of your RCU,
Press Sequence: <<1 + 6>>, <9>, <9>, <6>

1. Press 1and 6 for three seconds until LED is on.
2. Press <9>, <9>, <6>.
3. This will reverse the RCU into no configuration state.
