I have successfully transferred files to box using dreambox edit.

I have found i can also transfer files direct by opening a network link via the pc.

I am told i need to transfer using dreambox edit but as both appear to work can anyone tell me why i cannot just transfer via my pc and opening the network connection?

you can transfer files that way but not setting and that's what DBE is used for.

I transferred a .cfg file via network as this is a setting will this not work then?
It is showing in the root directory

Stanman

it needs to be in /ETC

yes thats where i put it . I can see it in the /etc but its not working

Is this because i did direct transfer instead of ftp? and if so why?

garyblas

Yes, its CCcam 2.2.1

Stanman

in that case download and use notepad+++ to make and save the cfg file and make sure the name is CCcam.cfg

Is CCcam running?
Have you set the correct permissions on your .cfg?

garyblas

have you gone into the softcam manager to see its running? without a cfg file it will not run.

For everything outside of the rules googles your friend

ftp to the box & right click /etc/CCcam.cfg (depending on your FTP client) and set permissions to 777.
However, if cccam is actually running, not sure you need to do this.
Other than that, I'm afraid as the use we know you want it for, you won't get any more help on the issue here.

Softcam manager shows CCcam is active. I assume that means its running

Been googling all day gone round in circles

Do i do this using dreambox edit?

No, Dreambox Edit is for transferring bouquets (channel lists) to the box.
Use an ftp client, I use file zilla but there are many for transferring files & setting permissions.

dreambox edit is not an ftp client.
you can direct transfer over a network, but it's now always possible to set the correct permissions that way.

As Stanman says, using the correct programmes makes things a lot easier.

permissions were set to 744 by default, will change to 777 as suggested
