reserve space for recordings

I have noticed that there is a setting for "reserve space for recordings" in amongst the HDD settings.

I have a 500gb HDD installed and currently the setting is set to 40gb.

Does this mean that only 40gb would be used for recordings?

IIRC once the size gets down to 40GB, the box will delete stuff out of the trashcan to ensure you always have that much space for recordings.
