Thinking of getting a 40" +/- a few inches, HD 3D tv

prices seem very high still, and looking for a quality TV at around £1000

so if anyone has surgestions on where to look (other than Curreys and the like) and recomends, it would be very welcome

yes, good advice,

but unless there is a reason (ie rev 2 or what ever) so long as the price is within budget, not to bother,d, after all, when ever the jump is made, there is always another must have to follow

3d tv's were merely announced march 2010 and according to tech cycle (can't remember its name) a new thing should be coming every 6 months.

think this would apply to 3d as well and so by year end new products should be on sale.

I was totally underwhelmed with the Sony 3D demo I got recently. Wasn't really in the market for one as I was going to buy (and now bought) a 52EX700. I was left with a gimmicky feeling to the whole thing and could see flicker from the glasses as I watched the demo material. The only positive thing I could say is that it does add something to games from what I saw. But at 2400€ for a 40" TV, even the salesman wasn't trying to entice me to it as he knew I was set on the 52". I would say the 3D TVs come into their own at the really large end of the spectrum i.e. 60". The 40" just didn't fill my field of vision enough to convince me.

That sounds mostly negative, but in 2D the TV was really top notch. Just not worth 2400€ though. And I was really rearing to give 3D a chance. :)

he,he

having read the comments so far, it looks as if I will have to wait, because, 40+" will not be enough, so need to save for a few more months

Personally, I'm a plasma person, and so the P50VT20B would be my choice of view. Not looked in to 3dtv for a while though, and hence this might now be a really bad choice set.. And is almost double your budget anyway... But I would defo say to wait and give it another 6-12 months...

Does anyone else think that 3D is a passing fad like it was yesteryear? I was starting to think it was, but then I saw that they started to make 3D porn and we all know how big an influence the porn industry is when it comes to whether or not a format lives or dies ;)
