i have two duo boxes both with the latest vix images..every day i have to unplug the box and restart them as they both freeze..i have made sure nothing covers the holes on the top but can anyone shed any light??

i was thinking of using a different image to see what happned but i love the vix interface and the BH ones look poor in comparison

As has been mentioned in other threads Vu are currently investigating a possible memory leak associated with the new 3.1.1 kernel, it could also be a issue with the EPG download if your using CrossEPG you can try using a temporary swap file or try using this plugin to see if that helps.

How often should we use this? Once, or daily/weekly?

well the Solo like the Duo has a relatively low amount of ram so you could give it a go to see if it helps.

Ok... tried this plugin, I go from 1.62% free to 33.42% free... but within seconds it's back at 1% free?? Is there something I am doing wrong, not got picons/EPG on flash?! Here are the images of before/after (but even running the plugin just jumps straight back to the first image).

just to point out that you only really should try this plugin if your are suffering instabilities associated with the memory leak problems also dont worry about the figures, just set it to refresh once every 60 minutes and leave it alone. you have to remember that linux considers free memory as wasted memory.

Ah ok... apologies! I was worried I had something on the flash that was causing the issue. Ta!

My box crashes a couple of times a day, kernel 3.1...

Is this due to memory leak issue?

Sometimes my channels stay blank for about 20secs before I can see/hear...

My boxes are restarted every day.. whether they need it or not..

I always set this up in power management.. to reboot my STB`s every morning between 5-6 am..

no i'd say from your forum posts here and else where that your problems stem from the method of which you obtain your channels and your inability ( at the moment ) to set the receiver up properly.

I had the same issue, it worked fine once I changed the Usb Memory stick that I was using for picons and epg data.

Hold on mate, I believe my box setup is correct. Works until it randomly crashes.

I've had this box over a week and apart from an hour or so I've not had much chance with configuring this box. But for the time I've spent on it ive done well to get it up and running (with U and others helping)...so please cut some slack!

So you believe I've not set up my receiver properly, please elaborate? why have I set it up wrong?

I was actually thinking of posting a 'dummies guide' for newbies (newer than me) to help with some of basics Qs that are asked about configuring Vu+ duo. if I had a guide like this one I probably wouldn't ask 95% of Qs that I asked as a newbie. Ill refrain from writing one now...

I was not slagging you off but from reading many many of your posts over 4 different forums it is clear that you are getting your self very confused with all the conflicting advice given. Thats what i meant by your receiver not being set up correctly, and due to the nature of how you obtain your channels we cant and wont get into such discussions on this forum as per the rules we have here. as for your guide, you are more than welcome to write one and it will help many others in similar situations but if you decide not to then thats also fine too.

which ever way i hope you manage to set the receiver up to your liking.
