vlc or media player

Hi all, i am currently running vix image with no probs at all. my questions are:
1: Does the inbuilt media player give a better quality picture on movies than vlc?
2: Can i set the media player to stream files from pc to my vu+?
3: Is there a plugin for vlc to play MP's?
