Hi There, was thinking about upgrading from Solo to Duo as I need an extra tuner, and have been advised to wait until the second edition Duo comes out????
Is this correct as I cant find any info online anywhere about any "2nd edition".

Thanks guys

Hi,
I never heard of a second edition. In Germany a certain dealer offers a SE (special edition) but this is a normal DUO with WiFi and temperature controlled fan. The only change I heard of is that current DUOs are delivered with a programmable RC.

ciao

The SE was a one off special edition in white from what I understand.

Wasn't that an 'LE' (Limited Edition)?

He wasn't meaning you to buy the Duo CE (Chinese edition)?

If so then avoid, these are clones...

SE, LE, CE, what a difference one letter can make!

anyway, in answer to the OP's original question, there has not been a Duo second edtion announced, but you want something with slightly higher spec then maybe consider the Xtrend ET9200 http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/Digital-Satellite-Receivers/Xtrend-Linux-HD-Receivers/Xtrend-ET9200-HD-1080p-Enigma%202-Linux-Twin-Tuner-High-Definition-Satellite-Receiver

Yes, I have been looking at both the Duo and ET9200, but cannot make my mind up! Think I will search the forum for a comparison review

Thanks for that Ev0, think I will wait and see if Vu make any anouncement soon.

Duo has 128mb flash + 384mb ram
ET9200 has 256mb flash and 512mb ram, better CPU and support's blindscan, latest hardware revision has Tuner B fixed for SR30000, so no more tuner issues.

You wont go far wrong with either.

Personally not sure about the ET9500, end of the day its still a twin tuner. Same as ET9200, slightly more ram and plug & play tuners. Dunno if it really warrants the higher price tag

true but i like the look of the new remote better than the older one heh. i read something a while back that the et9200 remote was abit cheapish?

its either a duo or a 9200/9500 atm, im stuck! lol an ultimo is abit too costly for a tv box.

If I'm 100% honest here, I prefer the ET9200 remote over the new style ET9500. The new style is similar to what the Qbox had and I personally hated it and the button layout. I'm used to the 9200 remote now and think the layout is spot on, also like the fact its got a dedicated info button, something the VU's don't have. Out of the four you've mentioned I'd probably be inclined to steer towards the 9200 or really stretch the boat out and go for an Ultimo.

ahh right, thx for the input on the remote ive never used a qbox so i wouldnt know.
ive decided an ultimo is far too much for a tv box, the et is a bit costly but i need an upgrade to dual tuner

im leaning towards an et, lucky wos got limited stock now aswell

Surprised you guys are rating the remotes further back in this thread- I've been using the Harmony One for the last couple of years.....all other remotes are stashed in a draw somewhere!:D

I agree that Harmonies in general are great (see my signature: that 'proofs' that). I never ever use the R/C that come with devices.
But the 'One' is a very bad exception: not having the very much used coloured buttons makes it almost impossible to work with our beloved E2-boxes. Of course they are added as 'soft-buttons', but that is absolutely no good alternative.

BTW: Logitech has promised never to make this huge mistake anymore. Let's hope so!

What do mean Rob? Colored buttons work fine on both my Harmonies, short and long presses. I've got Harmony 650 and 900.

As I said: the 'One' is the only Harmony that doesn't have the coloured buttons.

The latest news is that VU is shipping new twin plugable tuners, compatible with uno and ultimo.
So you can plug double tuner in uno, and you have excellent receiver for extremely low price.
Also VU+ have much better support, one of the best teams Black Hole are making images exclusive for VU+. Not that ET are bad receivers, but investing in VU+ box is win/win atm.
