View Full Version : [VU+ Duo] How to manually reset to default skin
Hi Guys,
I was playing around with some skins under development and have unfortunately stumbled across one that crashes almost immediately as it tries to load and I cannot get into the menu system to get rid of it. Is there any way to revert back to the default skin manually e.g. edit a config file etc as I have absolutely no access to the menu system etc before the skin crashes.
Many thanks
ftp into usr/share/enigma2 and delete the directory with the name of the skin that is causing the problem.
Your box should then boot up with the default skin.
FTP or telnet into the box & delete or rename the skin causing the problem.
It will be in /usr/share/enigma2/ SKIN NAME

Hello guys!
I have the same problem as the guy above had, but I wonder if there is anyway to connect to my vu+ without network?
The problem is that i don't know what ip my box has and i can't connect top my router to see because the network provider has "locked" the routers.
I'm thinking of a solution to connect to my box with rs232 cable or do you have some other tips? What kind of software must I have installed to get inside the box?
Off course I can reflash the box but I'm trying to find a way to skip that.
Best regards

Can you not just press menu, plugins n red button to remove plugins?

I tried that byt nothing works, the Box doesn't respond on any buttons.
Any further tips on how i can connect to the Box or find out the IP?
Best regards.

So no ip is shown via menu, information n network?
I can't get to the menu because the gui crashes and tries to restart.. That's the problem :/

You'll need to reflash the box then I'm afraid, nothing else you can do.
A little longer method would be try telnet into IPs 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.255.
Depending on your router, most routers (using default settins) DHCP server provide IPs from 192.168.0.2 onwards. Some router with dd-wrt firmware, however, allocate IPs from 192.168.1.2 onwards.
What router do you use if you don't mind me asking (or ISP if you don't know)?
And in future use a fixed IP address.
you could try something like nmap.
or you could also look at other fixed (or wireless depending on how you connect it) devices, as the ip will be in a similar range to narrow down your search.
