audio/vlc probs on vu+ duo

Hi
Just got the box working using dream elite/black hole image. Been looking around and I must have done something (maybe it happened when I was playing with media player setting) cos the audio on some movie channels doesnt work. Cant see anywhere in setup menu to change and it is still same after rebooting.
Also I want to stream xvid movies from my pc. I setup vlc so pc is default (ip address) and directory (e:). Now when I run vlc player I get the 4 blue squares and the system hangs (I rebooted after 30 minutes)

Yes that did the trick. I didnt look on the remote
Is there any info on setting up video streaming using vlc or similar?

that sounds very cryptic to me....
Ive been searching a lot but not seen any thats hit me yet. a pointer in the right direction would be welcome at this stage.
Just a thought. I havent got a hard disk in yet would that make any differnce?
