Hi all,
noticed this recently, when using grab to take screenshots on HD channels, I get a segmentation fault.
Using grab on SD channels works fine.
Any idea why this would happen & how to fix?

root@vuduo:~# grab -d -p /tmp/grabs.png

This is using latest VIX, all online updates on a VU DUO.

Not sure why but it has happened to me once or twice in the past. when it does i just use the grab -o -p /tmp/grab.png command, although this type of screen grab only shows the menu items and not the channel your viewing like the other one does.

try

grab -j 100

Thanks lads,
pheonix, that does work but only for the menu items as you say, I need to screen grab the show.
silverfox0786, that's giving me seg fault on HD too, works fine on SD though.

Any other suggestions?
Presume it's a latest kernel issue as I used to use it no problem on HD channels pre-kernel update, or can you guys still take screenshots on HD channels using grab on latest VIX? (haven't tried other images)

if i remember on in the morning i'll give it a try when i get in from work. although i have taken many screenshots with the new kernel image and only rarely encountered this problem.

Thanks pheonix,
I just tried it on E4+1 (not HD) & works fine, switched to E4 HD & get the seg fault, let me know your results.

Also, I get this issue using the screenshot function in dreamdroid on my android phone, SD channels take the screenshot as expected but HD screenshot results in an endless spinning wheel until I quit the app.

FYI here are two screenshots using OpenWebIf on port 8088 the first is SD and the second is HD

This on dvb-t and is mpeg2 but is SD & HD (whereas you may be dvb-t2 or dvb-s2 and mpeg4?).
Although not shown, dvb-s with mpeg2 works with both SD & HD.

stick50jr - I prefer to use the command line, find I get a better screenshot. Can you try on the command line & let me know if it works? I also just tried now on my USB tuner on the duo (Nova T) and get the same result, i.e. works fine on SD but seg faults on HD.

silverfox0786, have you a VU with latest VIX you can try on?

silverfox have you tried the grab -d -p /tmp/grab.png command as that's the specific one giving him problems on the HD channels.

Strange, no idea why it won't work on my DUO & SOLO so.
Still working fine on SD but seg faults on HD.
Fresh install with no plugins installed.

update - just tried 1 SD & 2 different HD channels, SD & 1 HD worked, so maybe it's certain channels?
I've always noticed it on CH4 HD, ITV1 HD & SKY Movie HD channels so presumed it was all HD channels.

Of the 3 below, first is RTE1, SD & worked.
Second is BBC1 HD & worked.
Third is ITV1 HD & failed.

silverfox have you tried the grab -d -p /tmp/grab.png command as that's the specific one giving him problems on the HD channels.

Same happens with silvers grab - j 100 command. But just realised now, it seems to work on some HD channels like BBC1 HD but not CH4 HD.
