View Full Version : [VU+ Solo] new to vu+
Hi all, a bit of background: in the past i started with tm500 super E1 boxes, not a problem.. then moved to the tm800 E2 boxes, again not a problem (with flashing etc) Now i've decided to moved to the Vu+ solo. Received it today and looked through the guides on how to flash an image, thinking i'm doing everything right, i've put the new image files on my usb and followed the instructions. i am not even getting the red light at start up, it's going straight to green and loading the default image. i have read the bootloader might need to be updated, so i loaded the file on it's own (cfe_cfe_auto.bin) and tried to flash image after and still no joy.
Can anyone please advise me where i'm going wrong, cheers
You do have to flash latest bootloader before using latest images.

Make sure your USB stick is formatted FAT32.
Extract the image file to root of USB stick. So you will have a folder named vuplus, then another inside that named solo and the flash files inside that.

Thanks sic, i've formatted to FAT 32 and loaded bootloader yo box ( i hope ) is there anywhere in the menu you can see the current bootloader version to make sure it's been done right ?
Done everything you said sic and still i get the solid green light at start up. I've read that these boxes are much better than the tm800 but i'm beginning to wonder, with the tm800 there wasnt any messing about with bootloaders and such, just a straight usb image upload, easy. I hope someone can help otherwise it's up for sale, pleaseeeeeeeee
The bootloader upgrade is to allow use of newer images. If you got solid red light, then blinking green light it flashed correctly.
So just flash on of the latest images and you'll be away.

That's exactly what I'm trying to do, the files are on the USB and in the front port, I turn the box on and the light is just green were it should go red when uploading image. Do you think it could be a issue with the USB stick, I'll get another one and try that, I'll let you know how I get on.
yes try another usb and also how u putting the files on the usb, need to be in a folder called vuplus

Hi mate
Format usb fat32 then make a file called VUPLUS open this file and inside make another called SOLO open this and put the 3 files for the image your using. Power off the receiver and insert in the front usb port the stick make sure you dont have another stick in the rear used for picons etc then power up.... should see a red light turning slight orange flashing then after a short while ur get a flashing green. Hold in the reset button at the rear and remove the stick then release the reset and the box will power up again hopefully if alls well your get the setup config screen.
regards
