I run Makefile 5.0 again last night, just hung again.

This is how the build was setup, could I be missing something?: -

sudo apt-get install monotone zlib1g-dev libc6-dev gcc g++ make cvs subversion perl python-psyco

sudo adpt-get install help2man

next, sudo gedit and edit

/etc/apt/sources.list
add this line to the end of the file

deb http://www.openembedded.org/dl/ packages/

next,

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install openembedded-essential

say 'y', when ask about security.

next, open a terminal session in your vm as a standard user NOT ROOT,

cd ~
mkdir projects
cd projects
make -f Makefile-vuplus-5.0 image

I've just started running the Openpli Makefile from here: -

http://openpli.pli-images.org/wiki/OpenembeddedBuild

See if that finishes.

Determined to find out what's making this hang.

No m8 never built anything on this machine before. For the build last night I installed Ubuntu 9.10. Python version installed is 2.6.4 (r264:75706, Dec 7 2009, 18:45:15) [GCC 4.4.1] on Linux2.

Hi,

got mostly the same errors that you did, but I've got the three packages (curl, gawk and zip) so that's not where the fault is.
(as far as I know I don't have dependency problemes with openembedded or bitbake and everything is newly installed from git)

This is what happends with my build.

NOTE: Tasks Summary: Attempted 2090 tasks of which 0 didn't need to be rerun and 4 failed.

ERROR: '/stuff/build/dm750/openembedded/reciepes/tuxbox/tuxbox-libtuxtxt.bb' failed

ERROR: '/stuff/build/dm750/openembedded/reciepes/tuxbox/tuxbox-common.bb' failed
ERROR: '/stuff/build/dm750/openembedded/reciepes/linux/linux-bm750_2.6.18.bb' failed

That was after running task 2090 of 2145.
The 4 error files I can also find in the build maps so I think they got downloaded but might be with error?

the file "log.do_install.28451" in directory :
/stuff/build/dm750/build/tmp/work/mipsel-oe-linux/gcc-cross-4.4.3-ro0.1/tmp/
Ends with the following lines.

make[3]: Entering directory `/stuff/build/bm750/build/tmp/work/mipsel-oe-linux/gcc-cross-4.4.3-r0.1/gcc-4.4.3/build.i686-linux.mipsel-oe-linux/mipsel-oe-linux/libiberty/testsuite'

As you can see, almost the same as your error (minus one m: cannon stat.... line)

So, reading what did fix it for you I guess the problems is that the build file on some stage fails to download the needed files?

How can I verify that the build script has downloaded every package that it needs?
Or how to I re-run the "make -f Makefile-vuplus-5.1 image" whitout needing to do the first successfull 2090 tasks?

Thank you for any help on this matter.
