I'm thinking of buying a HD+ card and cam so I can watch F1 on RTL in HD (at €69 PA it's cheaper than a Sky sub) The thing is, it's a CI+ cam. Will it be compatible with my VU+ Solo??

I dont think there's any E2 Linux receiver capable of using CI+ at the moment, but tbh I've never tested. Do you have a link where to purchase one? I dont mind buying and testing, then reporting back.

I'm 99% sure the cam is usless on an E2 receiver, however the card should work with oscam

This will probably also depend on the number of limitation that are actually implemented by the C+ provider. As far as I know all providers still have implemented only very limited user-limitations, or even none at all. But for sure that will change, so this will have to be tested continuously.

This is the place I usually buy from (based in Germany as it's easier to ship to France but they ship to UK too)

Edit : don't know why it's produced all those stars but the firm is HM Sat if you Google it

Hi Rob,
the limitations are quite hard. On some channel no recording possible, no jump over commercials, time shift only for 90min and so on. But who cares CCcam is your friend.

Is there any English audio channel with the HD+ card?

Hi Sicilian,
I did not find an english audio track up to now. The playout center sometimes makes a mistake for 2-3 minutes after a commercial break and I can hear english but a real separate track is not there.

OK, so there are indeed providers now who have implemented limitations.

But who cares CCcam is your friend.

Does that mean that using CCcam the recording will be decoded (as usual) and that the CI+ limitations are gone?

Just to point out that if it can be made to work in a Solo, personally I'm not too bothered about an English soundtrack or recording. My main intention was to receive the F1 in HD. Anything else, E.G. movies with an English soundtrack would be a bonus.

A HD+ card works perfectly within the VU+ Solo etc. reader with Scam 3.59 - without any limitation. If you want to use the card with a CI+ CAM module in the slot , no way. Also issues with other CAM readers like Unicam or GigaBlue possible. But as stated before - Scam 3.59 does the job!

OK thanks for that (just buying the card is cheaper anyway!!) I'll probably need a cfg file for Scam when the time comes.

Anyone know is the F1 with be screened on RAI HD?

It's normally broadcast on sky sports 2 in italy, so it's unlikely, to be on RAI too, but I don't know for sure.

Almost 100% Rai 1 always broadcasts it. Going to try and find out.

Just found this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rai_1

Sports Traditionally, Rai 1 broadcasts only two sports, but they are the first and second most followed sports in Italy: football (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_%28soccer%29) and Formula 1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_One). Rai Uno usually broadcasts all the Italian national football team (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy_national_football_team)'s matches, as well as the matches from important football competitions such as the World Cup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_World_Cup) and the European Championship (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_European_Championship). Starting from 2006, it has bought the rights to UEFA Champions League (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Champions_League).
Rai 1 has always broadcast Formula 1 races (excluding the first half of the 90s, when the rights were bought by the Mediaset (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mediaset) group) with high shares. Its current rights expire in 2012.

Fair enough, i've never really watched other feeds except the uk broadcast ones because i've never had too (with the only exception being I used to watch F1 in Cinema feed as it was HD, and used ITV commentry).

I guess this year, it will be a whole new ball game, just hoping I can find some HD feeds and use 5 live for commentry on anything that isn't live on bbc.

Just found more here
http://www.dvb-s.tv/en/general/the-italian-rai-rai-uno-move-comes-on-the-HD-satellite/

I'm almost 100% sure that F1 is always broadcast on RAI.

If so the Tivusat card is lifetime http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/Official-Viewing-Cards/Tivusat-Viewing-Cards/TivuSat-Official-SmarCam-and-Pre-Activated-SmartCard

...and the best with Scam 3.59 - not even a cfg file is needed!

I am not that worried about the audio the card is cheap for decent F1 viewing but my question is does the card require activation ? if yes how without the cam.
Will scam do the job ?

I'm pretty sure that I have activated my HD+ in my Solo with Scam, for my Sky / HD+ combi card in my Uno I had to use CCcam for activation.
