I'm thinking of getting a big dish - a TRIAX 1.1m, so I can get get most of the European satellites, so I can watch the football. My question is, which Satellites will I be able to get from Manchester (NW England)?

Will I be able to get 4.8E Sirus & 7W Nilesat?

Cheers

Further up from SF and on 1M I get quite a lot of the channels on 7W 5555 movies, top movies, ALJ sports HD 1 + 2, news quite a few of the sports channels - not cleared as no card but about 60% SNR on the good ones and dropping to 45% for the weak ones.

Do any of you get the ADMC Sports channels (7w) on your dishes?

For admc sports on 7w your looking at least a high quality 2.4 dish and maybe upto 4 m dependant on your location,I can receive the admc sports channels on my 1.8 if the conditions are right and dependant on the time of day.

4.8 is a possibility but up north 7w might be a stretch. But you may be ok for 26e or 13e which both have JSC Sports

You don't need planning permission for a dish of up to 1.2m do you???

It's 1m I believe unless in a conservation area or it's a listed building.

OR if the building is over 15m high then your allowed upto 1.3m iirc.

I don't think many people apply for planning permission when installing a big dish...

I agree, as most go high up on a wall / above the roof line, how are they going to measure them even if someone is petty enough to complain ;)

I don't think it would be a problem, 16e is now a strong sat again in the uk.

The new regulations for the UK are a maximum of two dishes for a property up to 15M high.
The largest size dish should be no more than 1M,whilst the maximum size of the second size dish is 60cm,where no planning permission is required.
You could have more(without planning permission),as long they are within the maximum size and mounted on a non-penetrable ground/flat roof mount,I suppose.

I didn't think there was a size limit if it was ground mounted, so long as it was not blocking your neighbours garden from sunlight or something stupid like that ?

I keep thinking about replacing my mini dish with a zone 2, just not sure it's really worth the effort lol

I was told by my installer that i didnt need permission for my 1.8 as its not a permanent structure and its not connected to the house.
