passwords for ftp

hi my first post after having a dreambox for many years ,i have now had a vu duo ,can anyone tell me the passwords to ftp it as in dreambox it was root / dreambox many thanks in advance

I had went through same problem yesterday. user: root and leave password blank (clear dreambox) and once connected click on Telnet, type passwd enter and ite will ask you to enter new password then you can change password.

try this m8
Click Start

Click Run
Type telnet 192.168.*.*

Enter root for username and press enter
when it ask you for password press enter


Type passwd and press enter

Now you can change password then enter

Clear the password in box provided
Press reconnect
Go to telnet
Type "passwd"
You will now be asked for new password.. type your new password
You will be asked to retype your new password.. and the letters you type may not show up.. but all is OK
Confirmed
Now go to configuration page and click on reconnect.

thats all there is to it... you should now be able to access all the setting on your box..

i have tried for hours trying to get connected to my vu duo via my laptop they see each other but it is the user name password that don't work i have followed the above instructions but when i select telnet i cannot change any of the details shown
also i get the message that the send connection is not connected
where on the duo is the password that i need to use the only place that i have found a password in in the inadyn manager
what I'm i not doing right please

If you can not add a password with my above instructions.. then you do not have your Vu+ network configered correctly..

Try this :
menu
Set up
System
Network Configuration
Network test..
Press green button

Please come back and tell us what it says after test is finished....

Hi mate

Do as pio suggested also make sure ur rj45 plug has not worked its way loose also i have found that u have to power off (switch at rear) for network settings to work, simply restarting the vu wont do it.

when i reconnect i get network connected
ftp connected
telnet briefly connected
then is says
boot manager not found
telnet disconnected
telnet login incorrect
sometimes i get error 10057 send scocket not connected
as i can down load various items + utube the net work would seem to be ok
i am useing a router

It still seems that you do not have the password set correctly..

I have made a slight amendment to this..

Please follow to the letter..

Clear the password in box provided
Press reconnect

i have done all that you asked but when i press telnet the page is mostly blacked out apart from the top of page asking to unmount & there is nowhere to write anything
i have tried writeing where the curser flashes but nothing happens
i am useing dcc ver 296 i have also tried dreambox edit but have the same password problem

ok.. please dont forget that when your typing your new password.. that you will not see the letter you type..

You may only think that its doing nothing.. when you could be ready to go.. just by putting your new password in the box provided..

my vu duo came ready to go with black hole image 1.0.0 2010-06-05 instaled set up for card share
where can i see the password on the duo to see if it has been changed by the dealer who sold me the box

ive just got a vu+ duo and Ive just joined the forum with the hope of sorting this problem.
Ive just got the same as westentertainer using flashxp
I was told there is no password but flashxp wont connect without one. It connects so network settingS etc are OK.

What i mean is i can conncet to box but login is refused

Its enigma 2 new, never been used
It needed a wizard to set language and stuff
Then no channnels till I set up transponders and scanned
Now its got all channels and works well but I want to add plugins etc. In menu/ plugins there is no option to download anything, so I decided to FTP and when I use Flashxp It connects but dails to login.
DCC connects and then gives the 10057 send socket error.
If I flash image to dream elite using USB will I get rid of this problem?

i'd say give it a try, if u didn't gain u won't loose.

one last thing before u do, try filezilla... it is known that flashxp doesn't like the blank default password

Flashfxp should connect fine with no password. Just use root as username. I use flashfxp with no password

my version (3.7.2) still pops up a window asking for login info if password is left blank
Also
DCC will not connect and fives the socket error
This to me looks like there must be a default password as there is with the rest of the world

password: is showing so I click in box and type "passwd" (no quotes)
Immediately *******server has closed ********message comes up . ( This comes up very quick and sometime I havent time to click and type passwd )
then login incorrect,
then a bm750 login : prompt
When I type anything now there is no response and it says Telnet is not connected

i faced this with my vu+ solo & i solved as follows
1-install VTI imge
2-i run from VTI Panel Set Root Password
3-then i changed Root Password thru Set Root Password

besides, you can look in Duo (in Adapter settings) what is its IP address, and use that address to connect to it.

connecting is not the problem. The box login needed a password and flashxp/DCC would not accept " "

You dont need to download new software if you already have DCC

It works just as well with DCC

Hi, I'm trying to change my password which is currently "dreambox" on latest OpenPLi image.

login to box working fine, but using the command passwd in telnet gives the following:

passwd: no record of root in /etc/shadow, using /etc/passwd
changing password for root
new password:
Bad password: too weak
retype password:
Password for root changed by root
root@vuduo ~ #
-sh: dreambox: not found
root@vuduo ~ #

that message comes up at once. I' don't get a chance to enter a new password.

Anyone know what's going on?

There is currently no password set. Which is what the following line is saying:

password set is dreambox. When this is used in dcc then there is full access to box, telnet etc. But the passwd command gives the above error. I can't remember setting the password "dreambox".

tried latest original image. Password still "dreambox".

Update.....all is well again. I'm sorted.

I used a combination of VTI image to generate new password and then putty as suggested in earlier post, Cleared OK this time and was able to set a new password.

............thought I'd been hacked for a horrible mo.......

just to let you know my duo came set up by the dealer who put a new password on so once i got the password sorted out i have access
now i will have to search to see what to do next
