Dead Spiderbox HD 9000

Hi. A friend of mine has asked me to look into his Spiderbox HD9000. I do some general electrical repairs but mainly on pc/laptops. Anyway, It is just dead. Now the red optical output light on the back is lighting. Nothing on the display. No dots or dashes or anything. I am not familiar with these boxes so any ideas where to start would be welcome. Thanks in Advance.

Thanks Sicilian. I just tried that 10 mins ago but because the box does not power on, It wont download to the box. I do have the correct null modem cable for the job.

I have just tried to Repair the spiderbox again using my old Win XP machine and it has worked ok :). Thanks again for all your help here. I am only new to this forum so thank you all. Bobbyc2004. :)
