Hi all,

I've spent all day trying to set my ET5000 up with Vix but it keeps crashing and hanging.

I've loaded my picons and EPG data on a USB stick and I have a powered 1TB USB HDD attached.

Can anyone help me out as I need to get on with my life ;)

Have to installed latest updates? Blue button > VIX > Software update.

Is your HDD initilized? Menu > Setup > Harddisk > Initilize.

Is the HDD mounted correctly? Blue button > VIX > Mount Manager.

Make sure your recording paths are set to the same as set in Mount manager.

Well, first of all if posting at midnight you might allow us some time for answering please.....
Secondly: if a crash occurs, there will also be a crashlog. Please provide that/those.
And last but not least: we don't even know what version you are trying to run.

In spite of that, Sic gave you some valuable clues: please try those first and report back.

Please give us all the available information; debug- and chrashlogs can be posted here, but also be sent via the build in logmanager.

Nope, that are no crashlogs. Those seem to be (parts of the) debuglogs.

Thanks for the response.

Yes, everything is as it should be with the mounts.

Any other ideas?

Where do I find the crashlogs?

I can only find the logs?

I've installed the latest Vix image.

Which image version?
Crashlogs please. They provide valuable info, related to the crash observed.

Have you checked your recording settings? Are the paths correct and did you initilize the drive once connected to the ET5000?

OK, under mount manager I have;

USB U3 Cruzer Micro
Mount /media/usb
Device: /dev/sda1
Type: ext4 R/W

USB HDS
Mount /media/hdd
Device /dev/sdb1
Typre: ext4 R/W

Under Recording Settings the default movie location is /hdd/movie/

So there's no Black Screen of Death then?
That might be due to a memory problem. What EPG-settings do you use?

You know I suspect that the EPG settings might have something to do with it!

FTP to media/usb, delete the epg.dat, reboot.

Now select less sources, start with just France & Italy.

FTP to media/usb, delete the epg.dat, reboot.
Before doing so Enigma2 has to be stopped (telnet 'init 4'), then delete the epg.dat, then restart Enigma (telnet 'init 3').
If you don't stop Enigma before deleting the file, it will be re-written.

OK, seems to be much quicker now, just using Rytec Italy & Spain at the moment.

Germany's EPG seems to populate on its own!

Could I get away with adding Poland as well?

Good to hear that. Just try to add Poland and see what happens. If it becomes too much for your box, you now know what to do!

Poland seems to be working fine as well.

Thanks guys
