I just wanted to no is there a reason to mount a USB stick and have picons and epg on their?. I see nearly everyone does this is there a benefit? why not just have them on the internal hard drive?

Hi mate,

As far as I know, having picons on your hdd means that the disc has to spin up each time you change channel. I tried this and it resulted in regular crashes, especially if I was channel hopping quickly. I've moved picons to USB and everything is working like a charm now.My EPG is still on HDD but I am going to move it to USB I think.

As Seancred says its to stop the HDD spinning unnecessarily at every channel change.

Always a good idea to keep HDD running to a minimum to stop heat generation and noise but not such a issue if you have a 2.5 but still better on USB stick.
