What is the difference with the image already on the receiver and installing something like the Vix on it ??
What does it do for me?

The default factory image, while perfectly adequate is very very basic and no where near customizable as for example ViX.

no providing you read the release thread and ask any questions you need to, the flash will be fine. My own Uno works very will with the 2.3 image and the latest 3.1.1 linux kernel.

the image does not contain any softcams, you will have to install them manually.

we do not permit softcams to be uploaded onto this site for legal reasons. the link i posted above contains all the softcams that will work with the ViX image.

Hey pheonix.
I got those 18 cam files, I started to go over the install tutorial. I can connect to my Box, but I'm confused.( Don't Laugh)
After you transfer the .ipk file into the /tmp folder. Next step, install CCcam.cfg into the /etc/folder. I do not see a CCcam.cfg file.
Can you help???

you need to create your own file you can use windows note pad or notepad++ which is the better option.

install and launch notepad++

make a new file by clicking on File> New. you do not need to enter any thing into this file for use with a FTV card but you will need to enter certain details if your using card for premium services such as movies and sports.

with this new file open again click on file but this time select the save as option and you will see another box popup.

In this new box select the location you wish to save this file to using the icons on the left hand side then under the File name heading enter the file name as CCcam.cfg Making sure it is this exact spelling as it is case sensitive.
Then under the heading Save as type select All types (*.*) and press the save button.

you can open your FTP program and login then navigate to /ETC on the receiver and copy the file you just created there, exiting the program once done.

activate the Cam via the blue button. Blue button> softcam manager. press green to start the cam and blue to enable auto start.

Thats pretty much it.

You may well have missed this part off from your reply but did you install the IPK via blue button and install local extensions and than need to trf the CFG file?

After I make the CCcam.cfg file and transfer to the /etc on my box, then are you saying transfer all the 18 CCcam files to that file??

Phoenix, Stanman,
Once I copy the CCcam.cfg file to /etc on my box, are you then saying transfer all the 18 CCam files into the CCcam.cfg file on my box??

Can you clarify what you mean by 18 ccccam files?

Clabs
24-01-12, 22:36
Limey - you are getting confused (easily done when you start out!).

The 18 files you are talking about are the 18 different cams available from the link Pheonix kindly posted. Those files are the actual cams and you should only need to install one of those.

Lets take a step back. You have to install a cam file, and once that is installed, you will need to upload a suitable CCcam.cfg file to go with it.

What card exactly are you trying to clear? So long as it is a paid card for use in just that one receiver then discussing it here shouldn't be a problem.

I think he means, he has either downloaded a CCCam pack, which includes various CCcam variants

Stanman
24-01-12, 22:43
ah right.

Limey, you need to first ftp the file cccam 2.3.0 to /TMP on the box and on the remote press blue button and than vix and than install local extensions and install the file.

Once done do as Pheonix said to create the cfg file and put that via ftp into /etc

than blue button/softcam and start the cam. that will cleat ftv channels.

Limey1

Stanman,
I downloaded the CCcam pak 18 files from 4 shared. The link was given by pheonix.

Limey1
24-01-12, 22:58
Then using the install tutorial I was following all the steps to install the files

How to Install Cams on ViX Image - Link is from punisher

Limey1
24-01-12, 23:33
4shared link there are 18 files

Larry-G
24-01-12, 23:35
as already explained yes that link contains 18 files but thats because there 18 separate and different files, just download his one

http://www.4shared.com/file/Di1I6cyF/enigma2-plugin-cams-cccam230_1.html.

Then follow the tutorial and make a CCcam.cfg file.

Limey1
24-01-12, 23:42
Clabs,
Enlighten me. pheonix give me that link to the 18 files, which I downloaded all 18.
Then the link to How to install CCcam 2.2.1 on Vix from punisher.
So where am I going wrong??

Stanman
24-01-12, 23:45
Just download the file pheonix has linked to in post 33 and than follow punishers tutorial.

Dont worry about the 18 you have downloaded already.

Limey1
25-01-12, 00:02
Ok. The file you just linked me.
This is the one that installs in the tmp/ folder on the box? To tell the box that I have I cam.
The CCcam.cfg file in the /etc/folder is for the actual cam settings, what ever that cam maybe??
So I do not install untill I get the actual cam settings and put those settings into the CCcam.cfg on the box??

Stanman.
Take a look at post 36.
Thanks

25-01-12, 00:10
Install the cam it self first, then you can setup the configuration file to work with your card. also what card are you trying to use with the cam ?.

Limey1
25-01-12, 00:16
That is the question Pheonix I'm not sure which one to purchase.
Let me get this right, all these 18 files are for different cards?

Larry-G
25-01-12, 00:20
no the different files are different cams, some are the same cam but different versions. we can help you setup a cam for what ever card you go with. just let us know what card you get and some one will help.

Limey1
25-01-12, 00:30
So should I take out the file out that I put into the /tmp folder on my box and also the CCcam.cfg from the etc/folder??
Limey

Larry-G
25-01-12, 00:31
there is no harm in installing the softcam without a card for now, although you wont be able to use it.

Limey1
25-01-12, 00:39
So basically do not do anything untill I get I card Or whatever.

Larry-G
25-01-12, 00:44
yes thats about it. there are other uses for softcams without cards but due to the site rules we can not discuss them here.

Limey1
25-01-12, 00:48

REMOVED.

Larry-G
25-01-12, 00:50
no i'm sorry i can not do that, you can google cardsharing but thats as far as this discussion will go. and i have removed your email address from the thread for safety and security reasons.

Limey1
25-01-12, 00:55

Talk to you later

Hey Pheonix
The CCcam file link at 4shared you gave me, that installs on the box by using the remote Green button then Gui restart??
The CCcam.cfg file in /etc/folder is where you put the provider info??

Limey1
26-01-12, 20:50
Hey Pheonix,
After we spoke the other night I managed to put it all together by the link you gave me on that one file, that's when it sunk in.
Thanks for all your help and the info you provide.
Thanks to all the VIX people. It's a great Gui or whatever you wanna call it.
