Is the shutdown logo surplus to requirements on the et9000? I've never seen it e.g it never shows.

iirc, it's because the box shuts down before it gets to display it...

as pooface says the garfics chip and drivers on the box shut down before the box does so the shutdown logo does display justthat you dont actually see it on screen
