Help With Running HD Anime MKV Files With Subtitles on Xtrend ET9000 Build 161?

I copied an episode of Naruto and it runs smoothly however I cannot get the subtitles to run but its shows an srt file when the 'subtitle' button is pressed. Once the srt is clicked, the video freezes although every other aspect of the box continues to run smoothly. How can I get subtitles to run? It also struggles in fowarding and re-winding the video, is there anyway to fix this?
