Shoppers across the UK have been taking advantage of a glitch in Tesco systems that meant that bags of Mini Eggs were being put through the till for half a penny.

The items were incorrectly priced at 1p with an additional buy one get one free offer – meaning that one shopper was able to purchase 46 bags for just 23p. The glitch affected Tesco stores across the UK with problems reported in Bolton, Lea Valley and Penarth.

Several took to shopping site HotUkDeals to discuss the mistake, with one user reporting that they “had the lot” from their local Tesco. Other items were reported to have to same glitch with Lindor mini eggs going through the till at a penny, though without the buy-one-get-one-free deal. A user joked that they had “cleared out” the store after capitalising on the mistake.

“We are aware of the problem, which is a technical glitch,” confirmed a Tesco spokesman. “It is currently being sorted and will be fully corrected shortly.”

The rush on local Tesco stores follows a similar incident in June which saw three cases of beer being rung up at just £11, or 24p individually- prompting thousands to cash in.

LOL, should have posted this an hour ago, just came back fromTesco:p

Talk about stupid pricing, they had four carton packs of sunpride tropical juice prices at £4.99 but a buy two for £4 offer. hmmm it was a difficult choice deciding on which one to go for:D

That'll teach em for putting out easter stuff so bloody early!!!

Went to Tesco 2nd Jan, and there we had christmas stuff on sale to get rid of on one side of the aisle, and on the other side of the aisle, there was easter eggs, creme eggs, mini eggs etc! We've only just bloody finished christmas and started new year, and have another 4 months until easter! Give it a rest!!!
